Cracking tune!
we used to listen to minor threat and op Ivy when we were skate crusties in the late 80's early 90's
what happened to RAD magazine? I used to buy that religiously. just looked it up and it's now a magazine for radiographers. How disambiguous!
Spermbirds, outstanding!! ๐
Loved the Stupids
semi prompted by something loddrik posted in another thread:
tsy: you're about 25 years too late there ๐ hot or not
Laughing at the juxtaposition of The Accused and Avril Lavigne...
hehehehe indeedLaughing at the juxtaposition of The Accused and Avril Lavigne...
Okay, here's an all time classic skate tune...
ok TSY now I'm roffling you genius (even if youtube don't allow it, I remember it)
Yeah, but I just found out that it wasn't Christian Slater smashing out the flat land tech wizardry ๐ฟ
It was Sir Mullen afterall...
Bugger me Rodney Mullen has come a long way since the skinny board and knee pads. That's some serious street skating right there...
That's probably a selection of about 15 yrs worth of footage, but yes... he certainly knows how to skate!
aye, he kinda took off when he left powell peralta and got on plan b.
nobody else could touch him for that ridiculously tech style.
Ladies and Gentleman, I give you a contender...
has anybody seen Animal Chin lately?
The whole length video was on YouTube a while back...
'75 on a plank with roller skates nailed to it. My mates dad wsd a chippy and he had the best one. When he got a 'flyer,' he gave me his homebrew. It was incredible. Happy days.
Oddly enough, I had a look for my old deck earlier this evening. Found it, a Hobie with Powerflex trucks, but the bloody wheels are missing! Aaarrrgghhh! Bones they were, heaven knows where they've gone, dammit.
On the subject of old skaters, anybody see that Gator(Mark Ragowski) didn't get paroled? He has to wait another 7 years.
My son is 14 and is into skateboarding and mountainbiking. To punish him I am making him read this. no, really.
**** me, some of this takes me back. rodney mullen! sean goff and deathbox, natas decks, me being really-really rubbish but enthusiastic at skating!
my last skateboard, a scmitz stickz or sommat with indys, I left outside my house in Hackney for da youth to plunder/hurt themselves. It's like another life I can't remember!
Sean Goff used to take me to radlands when I was a youngster ๐
ooh schmidt chainsaw, loverly and I had a yardstick too. hehehe happy days
I've got a mate on friendface still in touch with him I think yeti, I may be wrong. you know james jessop?
Nah, doesn't ring a bell. Not sure if Sean still co-owns / runs SS20 in Oxford... not really had anything to do with the skating world for almost 10 yrs now.
Strange to think how much of my life revolved around the sport at one time.
'tis life!
I always thought this was the Pinheads! Ive been trying to find this for years. Anyone got it on tape, record,cd?!
Was just thinking what the old skaters were doing these days only last night.I wondered if Goffy still looked like a young perry farrell with "stuff" tied into his hair!
Anyhowzzz. right now..
all i want to do..
is watch H-Street Shackle me not!
Those videos bring back memories of time spent at radlands, St george and Bedminster, Rom and Harrow. A legend of the skate park on two wheels - rob ridge for tech
heres my old mate now riding fixies, hes still a handy skater...try as i might no interest in mud yet...
One of my fav sections from a UK video..
Great thread.
Still got my H Street Colby Carter/Indies/Spits.
Can't throw it away, but it hurts too much when I fall off it now.
I did the soundtrack(well the band i was in)for joe hapgoods slot on that raggy vid(he broke his leg and danny split his nuts). at the premier screening afterparty in oxford we all got in trouble for our disregard of uk drug laws i seem to remember. we are all from the same shire and still in touch.
on the subject of old skaters...........from the 70's
dunlop green flash
gullwing trucks
lief garrett
**** i feel old now 8)
I was too young to be out at any party for that video... one of the first videos I had though... played it to death! Could only find Danny's section on youtube though.
Did you ever skate the cowley road ramps in Oxford then?
nah i was always a mtber, we were a motley crew of kids who didnt tow the line. the rest of that vid might be on the 50/50 blog somewhere. think i might have a copy somewhere.
on the subject of old skaters...........from the 70's
i've got a few old boards in a cabinet downstairs. a g&s peralta warptail 2, logan earth ski 'bruce logan model' and a 1960s Bilbo (og newquay surf company) skateboard. anyway in the summer the wife's 14yr old nephew was visiting and said to wife 'wow cool retro boards'. wife, bless her, retorted 'actually they're original.'
if anyone remembers paul "rocker" robson, i'm still mates with him. he competes in triathlons these days and still skates a bit too.
i've still got a board in my spare room- toy machine jamie thomas, from around 1998. i've not skated in over 10 years though.
still got a few old VHS vids too; if anyone's interested i can list up what i have left...
rocker.. was he on deathbox? blonde hair/pitbull like build? lol. (you will go and tell him this)
Ha, yeah that's him! Looked hard as nails but he's the nicest bloke ever.
Kevevs, here you go-

Anders Pulpanek was much more of a pitbull than Rocker, Europe's version of Jason Jesse.
