anyone use olive oil for it's medicinal values ??
i am looking for some suggestions for some good quality oil high in good old polyphenols.
Well if I have too much it definitely works as a stool softener! Not sure that's what you're after though...
Banana Industries have got high zoot olive oils in their sale. Pick up some tyres and doobie papers while you're there 😀
Not so much medicinal as hoping to avoid the use of medecine. Pouring some over pasta reduces the glycemic index and adds some fat that won't do any harm and may do some good. No other oil in house at present but grape seed oil and rape seed oil sometimes get bought.
Since we've just harvested our 30 trees on our land in Southern Cataluña, Ive been doing a bit of research on the variety that we have. We managed to get over 100 litres of cold pressed extra virgin arbequina oil which is one of the healthier varieties, yeilding over 100mg/kg of polyphenols. The taste is quite neutral, not as peppery as some types and is good on salad and fish. I'd be looking at this type if health benefits are important to you but it can be expensive, £30-£40 a litre by the time it gets to the uk and everyone has had a cut.
I was given a subscription to olive oil from here:

Only had one so far, it's nice. Can't tell whether it's added years to my life, yet.
I stayed with my friend and his sonic star child wife in australia.
For some reason they both had a pint of olive oil to drink. My bedroom was next to the loo. It was noisy.
Putting a few drops in your tabs for a few days loosens and dissolves ear wax.

What a random and eclectic offering!
Friends had a place in Finale with about 300 taggiasce trees. We've got a 5l canister in the van.
Was gifted another 5l canister by a friend in Perugia last year.
We're kinda spoilt.
I'll often have a small shot of olive oil. Good source of energy and keeps things flowing.
