MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I have an old Vito with a Flamma bike carrier on the tailgate, the weight of the Flamma is too much to let the boot stay open on its own and starts falling back down. I have purchased some struts off eBay but they made no difference, the guy before used a pole to keep it up but this is very dodgy, what other options do I have? Is there anyway I can get some sort of fixed hinge which once you put it up to its full extent it holds? Or any one know where I can get some heavy duty struts for this
most places that re-gas airconditioning will re-gas your struts. maybe you can get them to put more gas in?
Worth a try
Don't think re gassing them is going to work, the gas that was in them before just went. Wondered if I put more gas in within a couple of weeks, it would be gone again
I had the same problem on my T4, got some custom struts - they weren't too expensive.
Not from here:

but somewhere similar I can't remember. I had them charged to maximum and the tailgate stays up with two road bikes easy, and can still be opened with two big AM mtn bikes, although I would guess that is pretty hard on the hinges. Only trouble is that it is hard work to shut!
