Ofsted are in my son's school doing an inspection on Wednesday/Thursday. I usually go in on a Wednesday morning to help out with IT support. As this is a purely voluntary thing, and sometimes I do have other stuff which means I can't make it in, should I find some excuse why I can't make it in this week, or is it not likely to be that much hassle for me? Have no experience of such things from any perspective, but presume things aren't quite normal when the inspectors are there (as much as that's not supposed to be the case). Is kind of strange - have the questionnaire to fill in with my comments about school, but as I pointed out to mrs aracer, being an associate governor I feel I have a vested interest in getting a good result (not that I think that should be a problem with our school, but we have a high standard to live up to). Interested from those with experience of such things in what sort of contact I'm likely to have with the inspectors - if any.
Haven't yet spoken to head to see whether he'd rather I wasn't there anyway...

Do this first....
Indeed - was just curious about what affect it would have on me if he says to come in as normal, and don't really want to burden him with explaining stuff to me when I'm sure he has much more important things to worry about in the next couple of days!
Hi Aracer
Do as you normally do. As a teacher of 25+ yrs & Dep Head (keep it quite though on here!) I have been 'done' several times & been quizzed at the most senior level about school performance etc.
Under the new OFSTED 'good' is now only 'satisfactory' so your school will need all the help it can get. As an Assoc' Gov you will also want to do your bit.
It will look good for your school to have members of the public (parents etc)showing enough interest in coming into the shool to support childrens' learning. They may look at how the IT teacher interacts with you & you with the children.
They may also ask you sly 'off the record' questions like 'is it always like this'? Or other delving questions - but NOTHING is off the record.
Do your bit - and hopefully you'll be pleased at contributing to a good outcome.... All the best!!

That's the sort of thing I'm worried about - though I don't think there's anything to hide (so I suppose if I'm honest that might actually be a positive thing).
Thanks for the helpful comments.
