Im now out of contract with 3 mobile and looking for a new phone 3 offered me a HTC wildfire on £22 a month which is around the most i want to spend im not a big user, now after looking around the web for the past few days i noticed that 02 are offering an iPhone 3gs at £21.50 a month 100 mins 500 texts but an extra £6 for 500mb data, the question i have is do i need to buy this add on if im only going to connect to either my works or home wifi or is it a necessity to get any internet connection??
Nope. Just ensure you don't enable the mobile internet (no idea how to on an iphone) and you'll be fine. Just means you'll only be able to use it on wi-fi.
Cellular data and WiFi are two different things. You don't need a 'data plan' to use the Internet over WiFi on your phone any more than you'd need it to use the Internet over WiFi on your PC.
Of course, arguably it seems a waste to have the capacity to use the Internet whilst on the move and not take advantage of it, seeing as it's a primary reason to have an iPhone. Quite why you want a new phone and chose to use it like an old one is something only you can answer, but if you don't want the Internet when you're out and about then perhaps a SIM-only deal would be a more sensible option?
I have 500MB of data and I never get even close on normal surfing (ie not downloading films and music etc). I spent most of it linked into wifi. you'll be fine on the new O2 deal, colleague at work just got it nad loving it. At least the 3GS works too 😉
Just re-read that .. so doesn't it include any internet usage?
3 are (or were) offering the iPhone 4 (£69) for £25 per month 2000 mins, 2000 texts and all you can eat data....
3 are now offering iphone 4 (16GB) for £69 and £35 for a 24 month contract,
•2000 minutes (anytime, any network)
•5000 texts
•All-you-can-eat Data
S'not a bad deal really, if you a usage is that high, when your consider the phone costs £510, so you paying £17 a month (for 24 months admittedly) for the contract.
New iPhone (4gs) probably due around august, should be announced on Monday 6th, likely to push prices down on the 4 and 3gs further.
HTC Wildfire at £22 is a poor deal imo. Phone 3UK and tell them You want Your PAC code as You'll be switching over to another network. They will phone You (99% certain) in two days and offer You a very nice deal. My brother wanted to get a HTC Desire S from them but they could not match some online offer. He asked for the PAC code and two days later someone phoned him and although they were still £1 more a month for a Desire S he managed to get 500min or texts, 500mb internet on a 12 month contract with a 3G Nokia phone for £8 a month 🙂
Worth a try as they will not give You good deals at the beginning.
Check HotUkDeals for some good mobile phone deals. For example THIS BADBOY dual core processor, 24 month contract @£25 with 500min, unlimited text and 500mb internet. Worth to shop around as there are bargains out there.
