Ok i've not spent a lot of time trying to suss it out, but when you have an update to one of the apps on your phone- how do you download via your computer rather than via the phone?

Feel free to flame me if it is obvious.

If you've synced your phone since getting the app, then itunes should prompt you to download the update and you can then transfer the update via sync.

I cant think of any reasonable reason to do things in such a convoluted way? Unless you have no 3G and no wireless in which case getting an iphone was probably a bit of waste of time.

In iTunes you can go to the Applications tab and update any apps there, including any you have in your library but don't currently have installed on your phone.

I have to say, I nearly never do this. I just update them directly on my phone (when I am on my home wifi).

it doesn't seem to do that.

one of the reasons is if i'm abroad, I turn of roaming and only switch it only occasionally. When I switch it on, I'll get notification of updates.
