I'm sitting on a train right now, from Cardiff to London, but stood on the platform for 90 minutes due to the storm-caused delays. I am now freezing, and my right index finger has gone white and lost feeling. It's been about 30 minutes.

Do I need to get it amputated? What's up?

Were you standing on your finger at the time?

You're Canadian, and you're complaining when it's +5 C? You've gone very soft!

Not sure how to fix that but don't eat any baked beans until the feeling returns

Apparently February is Raynaud's Awareness Month, so well done on spreading the word!

I once had feet that stayed white and cold for a couple of days, after a particularly nasty winter ride (theoretically on road, but with a lot of pushing through snow).

Did you see anyone famous at the station?

I'll just leave this here.

Quickly, while you can't feel it...

OK, serious answer, wait a while. I got frostnipped at glentress of all places and lost most of the sensation in a finger and a half for about 6 months. Maybe one of the docs can tell you better but I just thought "keep an eye on it for a few days, see what happens" and when the feeling didn't come back, got it checked out. Nothing to be done but wait and watch anyway, for mine

I'd never heard of Reynauds until a couple of years ago, now everybody seems to have, although only women that I know of? Is it contagious? or just trendy for cold hands?

Not contagious, just the proper term for poor circulation in the extremities.

No it's not. It's a specific condition where the blood vessels spasm and restrict blood flow.

That's like saying all badly behaved kids now have ADHD.

I see your paltry one finger and raise you 2 .5 fingers (it's actually quite a nuisance when it happens)
