Or we could jump in with reckless comments and inflame the situation.... I may disagree with theartist but I can't say that's how he comes across

No doubt, and I'd happily place a bet that states the majority of them voted for Brexit and are loyalist supporters.

Brexit lifted the stone that they previously hid under and they now have tribal leaders to rally around, it's like a social club for them.....a flat roofed social club 😉

(oh no........he said Brexit......will you just get over it....we've left....stop talking about it.......it was the will of the people...etc....etc...)

With some anti-immigration measures polling pretty consistently at between 60 and 70% in Scotland now, I would have thought it's likely to cover a fair amount of the political spectrum.

No idea how many of the perpetrators were immigrants to the UK. I’ll guess at very few.

But they're all immigrants to Ireland though 😉

aye, we're all 'immigrants' -- my lot 'came over' on a small boat c.550AD, or possibly c.1600 AD, depending which 'line' in the ancestry I take!!

You are going to trigger the Scottish exceptionalism.

Getting back to Farage luckily he is in a position to take action against some of those in charge of immigration policy when this individual came into the UK since they now happen to be some of his companies MPs.

Be interesting to see how he spins/ignores that

Okay but I think you must operate in a bubble because there is rising anti-immigration sentiment in Scotland, same as in the rest of the country.

stirred up by Farage and his band of racist agitators.

Its a stain on our society but remains very much a minority position

Many of the agitators are in the USA, using USA owned platforms (some are even in the USA administration), so it's no surprise that this "pick an example crime, blame all immigrants for it" narrative is on the rise across the UK, across Europe, across the World.

almost no one wants completely open borders.   The vast majority however want fair and non racist policy and enforcement

Bringing in failed Tories is an unbelievably stupid move from Farage. Speaking to people on the ground in makerfield has been quite interesting. There seems to be a lot of potential Reform voters who don’t like or trust Farage and just see Reform as the least bad option, complaining that he’s arrogant, his party is full of Tories, and he acts like he’s entitled to their votes now.

Lots of people seemed very receptive to what Restore Britain are offering, a couple told us to F off but most were keen to at least listen, “retaking the English castle” was particularly popular and not just with “far right” types. I’ve also had lots of comments about how Rupert Lowe “actually does stuff unlike Farage”.  I’m obviously biased but I think they’ll do better than anyone expects.

Ah - that makes a lot of a sense regarding your previous posts.

You are in favour of Restore Britain.

Rupert Lowe is like Nigel without the charm, charisma or intelliegence. But Elon likes him.

see Reform as the least bad option

That's pretty much how UK governments are made. Which bodes well for Reform, sadly.

By the way, Rupert Lowe was a Tory. What's he on now... his 5th party? That's more than Farage.

I was in a room with particular unpleasant member of the public at the weekend. He was openly talking of how he'd like to shoot Stamer/Kahn, voicing antisemitic bile...and how full of admiration he was for Rupert Lowe.

I see the rioters in Southampton are being processed very quickly which is good to see

and they are exactly the kind of people that you would expect them to be , you can see why Lowe, Farage, Musk etc find it so easy to manipulate these people, theyre not the brightest

Its also worth noting that once again the family of the person attacked does not want the far right to use this as an excuse to incite violence  https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/uk-politics-live-latest-updates-20-4462472#entry-4469095

If anyone is in doubt about what restore offers - have a look at our local representative - James Henry Holmes, a local “businessman”. Some of his posts are incoherent, he could do with a proof reader, but the overwhelming theme is Fascist, talks about locking up or deporting opposition and comes across as another grifting bully.

As the union flag seems to stand for setting cars, buses and houses alight as, apparently, they are "scared in their communities"...

Can I post the EU flag as that just seems to ignite (ahem) things like, "could we please chat about rejoining please?" or atrocious acts like  emailing their MP's to petition for a second referendum.

Bastards.

Oh piss off. We all know you're secretly quite excited about it despite your protestations. The irony is that if the immigrant community returned the violence and hatred they experience and directed it at tinpot little racists like yourself you'd be pissing your pants. If you're so determined on fighting this so called culture war maybe get out in the real world and do it instead of doing it on here where no one is interested?

I've avoided this pathetic little tirade all day as I had other things to do.

Call me racist all day if you like, it doesn't bother me, maybe I am, so what? If having an aversion to certain aspects of what's happening in Britain right now that doesn't align with your views defines me, then so be it.

But DO NOT accuse me of wishing harm on any community, that is not who I am. Say it to my face and we might see who pisses their pants.

I've no idea what your last comment is supposed to mean, should I go out on a 'far right' protest instead of having a different opinion on a forum where no one is interested. Oh you aren't interested in my views and want your mates to back you up? F'off

To be fair it sort of works? Whilst they are busy posing for cameras/sticking a flag at half mast/trying to find some random "foreign" looking type to beat up they arent abusing their partner and/or kids?

Looking at the Southampton "protestors" and their previous convictions/current charges I cant help but wonder why they were protesting as there seemed to be a liking for knives etc amongst them.

I've just finished watching Tip Toe. A very sobering watch, and something that I am very worried is our future if not checked.

Homophobia in this case, but transphobia, racism....all potential endings to this story.

Which is fair enough, but if you're voting for farage or lowes partys you are supporting them doing exactly that- whipping up hatred, riots, pure cold rage etc etc

the homes cars and destroyed, the people injured (including a pensioner with dementia hit on the head by a brick that came through his window last night) families terrorised by thugs in balaclavas..... theyve stoked all of this and they know exactly what they are doing

Got the last episode to watch - binged most of it tonight, but it's bed time, it is indeed a very sobering watch. So far, as I haven't seen the ending, but the start of the series sort of tells you the ending.

Don't try and muddy the waters here though. You can embrace different forms of sexuality, different skin colours, different cultures, but still draw a line somewhere as to what you feel is acceptable within (our/your) society. It's a human right to not accept everything that you are told to accept

How am I muddying the waters? It's a story where a mob enacts 'revenge', things get a bit 'out of hand', I'm sure no-one wanted it to end like that but.....etc. So similar to the excuses of the Southampton rioters. If one of those coppers had got isolated, or the mobs had run into a young immigrant looking man do you reckon that there wouldn't have been a murder committed?

Equally concerning to me is reading SM after, particularly X, the comments of how far fetched it is, that wouldn't happen, someone would have stopped it.... meanwhile 5 households are burnt out of their houses for being black, because a totally different black man did something heinous.

but still draw a line somewhere as to what you feel is acceptable within (our/your) society.

Absolutely. What happened (the murder of the student, the knife attack on the man yesterday, the murder of the Southport girls, or indeed even the axe attack on the shopkeeper in Bristol) is unequivocably unacceptable, but if anyone thinks the answer for going over the line justifies what happened in S'oton, or Belfast, or Southport, or was fictionalised on Tip Toe then I have a grave problem with that.

A good read about the fallout of these riots. The only "winners" are the thugs, no one else does, no matter what their skin colour or place of birth.

Dunno about that. Two groups clearly benefit.

There are the click farmers in random countries who have learned how to generate clickbait. They dont care about the content beyond the revenue it gives them.

Then there are those interested in destabilising the UK. Sadly a long list including plenty of magaites who not content with wrecking the USA want to add us to the list through to the likes of Putin and his puppets.

Speaking of which Tommy ten names seems to have been hanging round with Musk senior in a Moscow hotel.

Perhaps we should ask the spycops to stop ****ing hippies and go after actual threats to the UK?

Seems a tad unlikely all of your candidates are that way. Looking at the last GE there was one who whilst I would question their sanity definitely wasnt in it for themselves.

What might convince you to vote for a candidate?

Problem is your view is based on a completely bogus and racist narrative.

You cannot weaponize or twist something to suit your own narrative, if there isn't already legitimate arguments/concerns that exist to underpin them.

Some of the folks that are driving these riots are genuinely nasty racists, but honestly who gives two shits about Stephen Yaxley Lennon. The root of the 'immigration debate' will only really be solved when we ask "what are the conditions that make rejection or concern about migration seem reasonable and what are we going to do about them"

Of course you can. In this example, the perpetrator is detained with no bail. He is no longer a risk.

Meanwhile his crime is being used to encourage others to burn people out of their homes and close their businesses. Based on what “legitimate” arguments/concerns? That there is rising crime, and that it is due to immigration? Not true. That all black people are responsible for the acts one black criminal? There’s a term for that.

“I've already stated on here, I don't vote and never have done. They are all self serving tossers”

This, Artist, is exactly what the people with the money want you to think so you don’t notice what they’re doing. The references to “Westminster bubble” are part of that. I can understand how people struggling on the breadline have no time for politics as they’re just trying to survive but you, Artist, usually show evidence of a logical thought process.

Politics control every part of our lives, and yes, there are some self serving politicians. We have examples of politicians from all sides taking money for influence, we have politicians altering laws to benefit their acquaintances. Top of this particular food chain are usually right wing politicians using divisive tactics to further their own financial gain and more sinisterly, their financial backers.

An interest in politics might be useful to you, Artist, as you appear to have done very well from Net Zero policies and the rapid expansion of solar power. Both the Fascists that are Reform, and Restore have announced they will stop these if they get into power!

And, there are politicians who do the job for the right reasons and do it conscientiously and well, quietly, in the background.

Yes and no.

Parts of "our" society have been left behind, economically, socially, educationally. That's not nonsense (arguably manufactured but lets keep Thatcher out of this). Those people are desperate, despondent, frustrated and angry.

What they need is political/societal action to help them catch up, with quick easy wins to gain support and proper long term investment so it doesn't slip.

In the absence of governments failing to deliver on that, others have then manufactured a "crisis" with a simple narrative to whip up hate for their own purposes.

We won't solve the problem till we address the underlying cause that creates the environment for the poison to spread.

I can want to stop small boat crossings simply on the basis that it's wildly dangerous and people die. There's nothing racist and the end result is identical to the demands of the racist - the boat crossings stop.

If you dismiss people's legitimate concerns over immigration - and you've said yourself that there should be controls on it, then you're not contributing anything to the debate either, and this rhetoric serves just as much purpose as Tommy's does - ie none. The levels of immigration post Brexit and Covid19 are entirely responsible for the growth in the population, natural growth (births vs deaths) as been neutral/decline for a few years now. That should be something that as a nation we should be able to discuss that doesn't become either -

"None of them should be coming here at all" or "You're irredeemably racist if you're not welcoming everybody with open arms"

Based on what “legitimate” arguments/concerns?

Access to housing, jobs, access to health care, access to social services, schools places, increase in crime among certain demographics. Changes to local culture, ability to absorb an increase in population that hasn't been educated/ grown up here, The fact that in some places folks haven't been consulted or asked their opinions about the level of immigration and have been told repeatedly that they're simple-minded racists if they dare question it.
