Whether the OP intended it or not this thread has made me chuckle more than any other on STW this year.

Is Taz the ultimate message board troll? Or did he find out the answer and get raptured/disappeared for knowing too much?

Well I reminded a colleague that his daughter had brought home the same homework question but he didn't know if she'd ever found out the answer - none of us could work it out anyways.

Couldn't find it on Google, but I did find the Curly Purly Egg Pattern, free for personal use too! That should kill some time while the OP COMES BACK WITH THE DAMNED ANSWER

I'm increasingly convinced that it was an elaborate troll. I've got my pitchfork ready for when the OP comes along and goes "hah, I made it all up!"

Well of course not. If I knew the secret of eternal life, I wouldn't say.

Sorry boxelder, I don't know what the answer is. I got as far as thinking the R U Y S could be "ring up your school", "right up your street", or "roll up your sleeves" before getting stumped.

As was rightly pointed out on another thread I never responded to this. Sorry ๐Ÿ˜ณ

The question was school specific (again ) The letters were the school house names and their associated colour (eg Urquhart & Yellow)

After one week the final letter was given out with no explanantion (no one in the school got it). That was the following weeks question ie do you know it now? I went off on a business trip. Wife phoned me the answer and I forgot I needed to let you guys know.

Thanks for the help and sorry for posting a question you guys would not have been able to get an answer to. Should have know if STW can't get it it must have been very 'local'

So could we have the actual answer please?

It's not sufficient to tell us it was about house names and colours, what were they?

Epic thread. Well done to all. Very glad I read it after the (incredibly disappointing) solution.

The letters were the school house names and their associated colour (eg Urquhart & Yellow)

So wait a minute - no-one in the school got it, but I did and I don't even go to the school.

Yeees! I'm amazing!

Based on molgrips contribution:
Hufflepuff, Blue, Mortimer, Red, Urquhart, Yellow, Slytherin, Green

Should have pursued the local knowledge/house names line - I'm sure if we'd got him to list those we'd have got it.
