Particularly accurate for use with photo processing though I do use Pantone correction thingy (name escapes me right now and on a different laptop right now!).

Size range 24" - 27" widescreen (though not essential) and cost upto £250 tops.

Any suggestions? Where would be a good place to buy from?

Many thanks,

I bought a Samsung T260HD LCD TV for mine, cracking monitor and TV combined. Bought it last year for about £325 from Costco and came with a 5 year warranty. Not sure what they sell for now or what model has replaced it, they did do a 24" version too I think the T240.

I think you'll struggle to find proper colour accuracy at that price as you're still really in TN/PVA territory. I was looking for a similar thing & went for an hp 2475w, which is over your budget but one of the less expensive (and still good) IPS monitors (actually an S-IPS).

Try dabs.com. Lots of choice, good service and cheaper than a lot of places. I've got a dabs 'Best Value' DGM 28" monitor, think it cost about £200; has HDMI input and does full HD 1080p I understand. The casing isn't the best quality (not too bad), but the screen is great, and probably the same as in more expensive brands.

If you want photo/design colour accuracy, then get your credit card out. You're not going to get pro-level quality for that sort of money. Think several times as much...

Check out the reviews over at TFT Central. They give proper colour accuracy charts etc.

Are you looking for wide gamut or just an accurate sRGB?

More in your price range is the Dell 22" E-IPS panel.

Model number: 2209WA

Available at Ebuyer for £254.
Got a couple of these in at work and the colour reproduction is just amazing, every other screen just looks washed out now.

Although for home I got a Samsung 24" P2450 TN panel screen for £180. And it looks good just not as good as an IPS.

Good work davcow!

http://www.dabs.com/products/dell-22--2209wa-6ms-dvi-usb-e-ips-height-adjust-panel-6CBV.html?refs=50789

£227!

Are these that good then? I need to replace a Samsung 19" with something a bit better. Don't need super-pro quality mind. An Apple 24" LED display would be nice, but £600+?? Bit too big for me anyway.

Yes, the screens look amazing. Very deep blacks and fantastic colour reproduction.

I spent quite a bit of time just staring at some high res backgrounds that come with Windows 7. 8)

Then I remembered I should do some work instead.....

Also have a look at the 23" SP2309W not IPS but gets very good reviews and is very high res, max resolution 2048 x 1152, (higher than HD).

Thanks guys - so buying a monitor is just as complicated as buying a bike - so much choice and so tempting to push the budget boundary .......

Cheers,

Thanks davcow, I'm going to check out that Dell actually. Looks perfect. I have a spare 24" monitor (another Dabs cheapo), but it's not fantastic (ok for watching DVDs and that), and it's just too big for my liking.

Interesting...

I've still got a Samsung P2270HD sitting in my Amazon basket waiting for me to decide. £200, including a freeview tuner. Will this mean compromises on picture quality?
