you guys have always come up with some gems when i've asked before, and its xmas shopping time again, so please cd recomendations for my wife.
she likes mainstream folky, softer, acoustic, bit of light female vocal jazz type stuff.
think i'm going to get the new first aid kit cd, but something along the lines of iron and wine (early stuff), seth lakeman (have all his cd), bare naked ladies, melody gardot type style. compilations good too, she likes the dermot o'leary ones.
Nouvelle Vague, my OH likes them.
I was at a Bridie Jackson and The Arbour gig last night, they might well suit.
Or Neko Case?
Eliza Shaddad's got a nice girlie voice. Only an EP "Waters" out currently
Yes. First Aid Kit, their new album Gold - @wallop posted a ski video on here with "Silver Lining" as the soundtrack, excellent modern folky band, 2 Swedish girls, just done a movie soundtrack and were on Ellen's show in the US. I'm going to see them in concert in Jan. Excellent choice and just what you described
Also from MTB movies (Trans Savoie)
Handsome and Gretyl - EP and Album
Bella Ruse - Those where the Good Times
Jim Moray - the 10th anniversary reissue of his first album is really good, as is Low Culture and Sulk.
Spotify sub..... she can listen to anything then - unless you absolutely have to have a CD.
has to be cd sharkbait, but good call otherwise.
Might I suggest a spot of Lau?
Bear's den
Jane Weaver - Silver Globe
Laura Marling? Kate Rusby? Cate Le Bon? Cherry Ghost? The National?
Coeur de Pirate - French Canadian lass
What about war on drugs, American band melodic style but good.
