Daniel Craig not mentioned.

I'll have a fiver on Tom Hardy and a tenner on Daniel Craig coming back.

It's one of the Chuckle Brothers, but I can't remember if it's Barry or Paul

It's pretty much a given that Craig has got over his hissy fit and agreed to d another Bond film.

The next Bond, after this film, will be Ed Skrein.

I signed the contract yesterday - however I am sworn to the film title remaining a secret.

That'd be good, actually. I'm about as tired of Craig's Bond as Craig obviously is of the role.

I heard it was going to be Susan Calman. Makes a lot of sense the best spy wouldn't look like a spy.

If that were the case, surely Ed Milliband would be in with a shot then. Mind you, he would make the hero look like Mr. Bean

Fergus Beeley - he'd place all the baddies under citizens arrest then tell Blofeldt to prepare to die, and finally tell Moneypenny she's an old slut. Might be a bit sweary for a 15 certificate though.

Let's hope it's a decent film this time...

Don't think they've taken much advantage of how good Craig started in the role

I do hope they make it at least half an hour too long and have an awkward relationship between Bond and a girl a third of his age!

Daniel Craig has already been cast at Bond, he'll be 52 by the time it comes out.

I like DC, but he should have left by now. Bond was washed-up and broken in Skyfall and Spectre completed the story arc started on Casino Royle so rode off into the sunset (so to speak) at the end.

In the real world DC he doesn't want to do it, he's never seemed at ease with the burden of being Bond, he looks backward in interviews and I think would be far happier 'treading the boards' somewhere.

There's nothing worse than a too old Bond.

I think Peter Kay would be great.

Especially if he could also choose the soundtrack, and it could all be set in the north of England.

I might go to see it then.

@bikebouy

Well I suppose we've already had an Australian and an Irishman - Bond doesn't have to be a Brit.

I still have a soft spot for View To A Kill though. Cracking 80s theme, Bond on a snowboard, way too old for the Bond girl but what the hell, Grace Jones bad ass and Christopher Walken! 😀

I'd love to see Idris Elba get to play Bond.

Or re-name the hero to Jamie Bond and have her portrayed by Kira Knightley. 😆

Perhaps I was being unfair, there's nothing worse than a 50+ actor trying to play a 30 something character thanks to a lot of make-up and hair dye with a taste for 23 year old women.

I think an older Bond is fine, but once you go down the "I'm too old for this shit" road, then it's hard to turn back - Did Bond magically recovered from all his injuries, or is he still banging away at it despite them? A Bond film based on a tired old Bond being dragged out of retirement could be good, it's not the usual triumphant Bond, but it could be quite cool, but if he's groaning and unable to shoot straight one minute because of a decade of being a '00' and jumping onto moving trains the next it seems a bit daft.

I’d personally like to see a more period Bond, since the 90s and certainly since DC took over the makers have been in a constant struggle – James Bond v the Modern World – almost every part of the character is at odds with the real world – the hard drinking, hard smoking, womanising psychopath and it seems that with every time a new film comes out what we will accept from a film hero is further away from the core character.

Even if it was a stand-alone film, a Bond film based in the 60s with a more anti-hero Bond rather than a modern hero version could be a great film and I think audiences could be more accepting of him because “it was okay back then”.

Always thought Chiwetel Ejiofor would be a great Bond, he's got that righteous sociopathy thing going on.

Agreed. Or even set during the Cold War.

We're missing out, we have a candidate so repugnant that any evil villain would pack up his sandwich box and take his Quavers home with him.

I have an idea which may be genius. 70s/Roger Moore era Bond embarks on a mission into space but accidentally goes through a wormhole in time and re-emerges in the present day.

The womanising, shoot first, devil may care Bond has to adjust to our politically correct, post aids culture. Hilarity ensues.

Roger Moore/Bond should be played by noted theatricalist Iain Glen.

It should be directed by Michael Bay and star Mark Wahlberg as bond and Danny DeVito as Jaws. Let's kill the franchise properly

DC is only 52!

But he does however look older - I've seen him in real life (I was in the 2nd row back from him) and he does look pretty 'weathered'.

Perhaps he could be played by Mike Myers, and renamed "Austin Powers"?

DC is only 52!

[panto]Oh no he isn't![/panto] 😉

Daniel Craig is 49, apparently he briefly attended Calday Grange Grammar School sixth form just before I joined at the end of year 1.

No idea if CB attended Calday, but I was aware of him living near West Kirby (down the road) before he became famous on his Lotus track bike.

But on a related note, Steve Cummings who was in this year's TdF apparently attended, but 7/8 years after I had moved to Southampton.

Yes, but we could have more.

I think the character was better suited to the pre cold-war world in terms of his work and pre-90s at least in terms of his attitude.

We couldn't have a younger Bond. The generation where everything is "Meh", couldn't be arsed getting out of bed to save the world and blaming everything on the older generation...
What we need is another Austin Powers.

I've heard he actually went to Hilbre school and had up to one year at Calday. Anyway, a lady of my acquaintance [s]stalked[/s] bumped into him in that there London and said he's pretty small.

After his ground-breaking success in Dunkirk, its only a matter of time before they announce Harry Styles as the new Bond!
Absolute shoe-in for the rôle, I reckon.
