Is it just me, or is it clear as day where they have 'taken inspiration' from for the beach scenes?

I think Jaws has been the standard reference point for decades for shots of danger approaching a beach! At least they didn't do the dolly zoom.

Agreed – but this has the small girl playing in the sand, the older couple sunbathing, the lot!

At least they didn’t do the dolly zoom.

Well, not in the trailer – I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the film 🙂

I’m not sure Jaws holds any rights for the first film to have people in the beach in the summer enjoying themselves.
