Hi guys, I'm after some new music with a similar sound to this
any recommendations?
cheers
Mike
Do you do podcasts? If so The Low End Theory one will be right up your street.
Not new but Blue States or Nightmares on Wax kinda similar agenda.
Jamie, alas pod casts arn't something i'm familiar with. I use mostly spotify or youtube to listen to stuff, if I like it i'll buy it. (usually second hand of the bay!) Is the low end theory a band/artist?
Merak listening to Blue States just now, thats pretty good stuff.
Cheers
I like the chilled hip hop rap thing too, like this
Mike, what do you like about this song...where are you looking to cast your net; laid back hip-hop, downtempo/lounge, jazz?
I assume you've got Everyday? The Blue States and Nightmares on Wax that Merak has suggested are good places to start if it's downtempo/lounge that you're after. I'd recommend Nothing Changes Under The Sun and Carboot Soul respectively. In a similar vein, Kruder & Dorfmeister - The K&D Sessions should be in everyone's collection and is a steal at £5.

Quite like the aggressiveness(sp?) in the scarface track, looking for stuff thats quite aggressive but still quite chilled, as opposed to loungy stuff. its quite hard to explain the stuff I'm looking for. 😕
You've listened to the 'run come save me' album from roots manuva..? It's not quite as orchestral though..
Yunki - its on the list now.
try also the Taskforce - Music From The Corner album and a track called Twice The First Time by Saul Williams..
Some of the stuff there is quite gritty and bleak.. I'm possibly leading you down the garden path and off in the wrong direction with these suggestions but they may be worth a try..
The gritty stuff is pretty good. on the list so far I have
Scarface - On My Block
immortal technique - Dance With the Devil
Ice Cube - Ghetto Vet
Atmosphere - Yesterday
and All things to all men.
If its the beats and samples then Pretty lights have done some good stuff and as a plus its all downloadable (is that a word?) free from thier website: http://www.prettylightsmusic.com/
Also if you haven't heard RJD2 well worth a go (Deadringer is a classic) though tis a bit old now.

Hmmm...maybe Brother Ali Shadows on the Sun [url=
And a Biggie classic [url=
Done Changed
Black on both sides. Real seminal stuff,
really liking Brother Ali's Take Me Home and Forest Whitaker. Also Cap D's Champions Sound
