Didn’t get through the first series of Succession.

Try it again when you're feeling more resilient to watching horrible rich people being horrible to each other.

I aborted after a couple of episodes the first time, but loved it when I came back to it.

the new Luther film is on Netflix

Isn't that the one that has had the piss ripped out of it for being a sub-James Bond try hard with a "take over the world mwuhaha!" baddie? Think I'll give it a miss 😀

I'm back on Netflix (it's free with Sky Glass) so I watched all of FUBAR, an Arnie comedy thing - it draws a lot on his previous films, especially True Lies. Enjoyable nonsense though.

Got quite into The Night Agent too - political spy/action thriller.

Tried the first ep of the Continental on Amazon today. Not only does it follow the current trends of having the dialogue so quiet you can’t hear it, you also can’t see it as it’s so dark. Gave up after 20 mins.

Tried the first ep of the Continental on Amazon

Made it to the end,I thought it was a bit Meh.

Enjoyed 'The Reptile' (Netflix) more,Benicio del Toro is always watchable.

Gotta say, the Beckham doc is brilliant. Really well put together, loads of nostalgia and they both come across really well.

Yup.
Not a massive footie fan,but Mrs FH had chosen to watch it.
I know these things are very cleverly edited, but I thought it was very, very good.
I had also forgotten how young he was starting off,and the way they were often treated by the (tabloid) press.

Aye I wasn’t a Beckham fan ! But at 23 years old the negativity/abuse he handled was immense. I have a totally new found respect for the man.

Just starting on Black Snow – on BBC iplayer. Australian murder mystery. Looks like it could be quite good.

I ended up watching the first three episodes in one hit and then had to sit through them again for Mrs Kilo to get up to speed - in the end we did five episodes in one hit!

Having now finished it I rate it as excellent.

I just watched the Christmas dinner episode. Utterly devastating, best episode of a tv show I’ve seen in years.

Just catching up on The Bear now. Not really a fan of Jamie Lee Curtis but she was spectacular in that Christmas episode

It was excellent, and can't wait for Series 2 - I'm assuming focussed around his brother.

The murder mystery movie Reptile is very good. I started it as casual viewing with low expectations after noticing it starred Justin Timberlake and then re-enthused by Benicio Del Toro playing the lead, but actually it’s very good.

I shall say no more….

Give Victoria a break, she's not so bad! 😉

I wasn't expecting much, but it's far better than most biog documentary things. What's more, they both come across as refreshingly normal and thoroughly nice people.

Anyone made their way through the new season of Sex Education yet? Watched the first ep and it hasn’t made me want to binge it

We nearly didn’t bother with Ep2, the first episode was awful. It definitely gets better, but a lot of the storylines around the new characters don’t land well.

There are two excellent episodes centred around the original four main characters which made the whole thing worth watching. Just.

They do that to create a false intensity. You have to concentrate so much just to follow the dialogue and plot that it feels intense rather than having an actual plot driven intense film.

As I’m Scottish and not a footie fan (I have 2 football tops: for Leila and Deyna C city WSL) I found the Beckham series enjoyable and interesting (I didn’t even know he played for Real, Inter or PSG… the whole vilification thing also passed me by although I did know he got sent off). It was obviously a fluffier but they both came across as decent/good/even normal-ish people…

I’m mostly still watching k-drama.

Favourites of late have been:

King The Land
Doom at your service
See you in my 19th life
Summer Strike
Song of the Bandits

I even finally managed to get around to watch Squid Games (Jung Hoyeon turned up in the NewJeans Cool With You MV’s and I really love those… so had to check it out).

As well as the Cool With You MV, I’ve also been loving the Ditto, OMG, ETA and Super Shy MV’s too (very arty/indie for k-pop). That Min Hee-Jin must be the mastermind behind them…

As others have said, new series of Top Boy is as good but grim as ever. Nice to see the lad from Banshees of Inisherrin in it too.

Watched 15 minutes of The Continental last night. Subtitles on as standard for me anyway, but it does have a gloomy aesthetic. Will continue anyway, looked promising.

The Continental last night

As with many of these US series, I find the first few episodes are good, and then extend to the dreary purpose of making series after series much watering down and lengthening the drama to the point you know the “end” is about four years away then I stop being interested.

Really enjoyed the final series of sex education. Currently enjoying good girls for light fluffy entertainment but it's either got to become darker and more breaking bad or it'll become boring an repetitive I fear.

Untold, several of these have been good, the untold: swamp kings and untold: rise and fall off AND1 are great. Colin in black and white is also very good.

while I’m on a role I’m now having to make sure I don’t say “you feel me?” after each statement in a work call.

They nicked that from The Wire!

Sex Ed is getting better and the Beckham doc was surprisingly enjoyable. I also liked the TdF documentary from last year.

Re 'Who is Erin Carter' If it wasn't set somewhere sunny I might not have bothered. The wife and I watched it all and on balance enjoyed it but its a bit far fetched. That might bother you and make it unwatchable or you could elect to go with the flow and enjoy the scenary.

Thanks for Black Snow recommendation. We enjoyed that. Watched Dead-Loch on prime just before and that was great as well. What is it with these rural Australian murder mysteries?

Just watched the trailer for 'bodies' on netflix. Looks good, only going to be a single series (based on a graphic novel)

I stuck with it and from Episode 4 it does get much better although it also gets even more far-fetched.
And naturally it finishes with the setup for a second series...

Watched John Wick 4 on Prime the other night (well, over two nights, as it's three sodding hours long).

Anyway - it's a bit too long, the plot is a load of guff and the punishment Keanu takes is ridiculous (even compared to the others), but it's still good fun.

That's probably enough of those now.

Just finished John Wick.

Daredevil is a pretty good shot. Hitting everyone right between the eyes all while staring off to space. Love the little pokes he gives everyone with that swordstick.

Remind me never to try crossing the road at the Arc de Triomphe. Those French drivers really don't stop for anything, do they!

Made me laugh when he flew out the 3rd floor window and bounced off that van. Must be his super suit that saved him. Kevlar is good stuff.

Wow those guys are good shots. They should apply to become stormtroopers with aim like that.

Seriously, ALL the way down the steps? This is getting stupid now. Wait what am I saying

*Sad puppy dog eyes* proper lol

President Snow looks like he's enjoying himself now.

Jackets off, eh? I was wondering about that. Bullets shaking loose is a nice touch. I hope his tie is bullet-proof.

Really makes me wonder if they're taking the mick out of themselves a bit sometimes. The fighting went from being intense to just being too much and me laughing at everything.

Brains out fun, anyway. Seriously, don't bring your brain anywhere near this.

Great reviews in the Guardian, so I figured I might take a look, along with Erin Carter and Fall of the House of Usher. Just finishing up Lupin, and ploughing through Happy Valley, both of which are absolutely top notch in different ways.
I've also read a couple of things about Dark Winds, on UKTV Play? Sounds good.

Just started the new series of Lupin, and it's as enjoyable as ever.

Prime currently has Gimme Danger, a Jim Jarmusch documentary about Iggy and The Stooges.

They're one of my all-time fave bands, so I loved it. But well worth a watch if (like me) you just enjoy music docs generally.

Open to recommendations of more BTW.

It stumbles a bit in Ep 3 and I've not got further than that as yet. I think for me, the dystopian future part of it feels a bit "Demolition Man" style but without the knowing winks.

I'm on bodies too, three episodes in. I like how they show it's the future by giving everyone stupid haircuts, a la Fifth Element. If you want to hear Stephen graham talk in a plummy accent then tune in.

I almost gave up after the opening scene with a far right 'riot' with about five people init. But actually that's true to life. It's enjoyable bunkum

Just started Strong Girl Nam Soon about the eponymous Nam Soon. She has inherited super powers from her mother, but at the age of five (i.e. four), her father carelessly loses her in Mongolia (let's be honest, who hasn't done this?). She is brought up by Mongolian shepherds.

fifteen years later she heads back to Korea to find her parents. Despite being a superhero with super strength, super fast running, super vision and super everything else, all is not plain sailing - on her very first day she gets ripped off by an AirBnB scammer. Fortunately she meets the dishy young policeman at Incheon airport. Spot his nice road bike in his flat overlooking the Han river.

Completely absurd, but so far is actually quite entertaining. Some digs at some current issues in Korea (not everything is rosy in k-drama land), as well as making fun of foreigners who can't get to grips with honorifics (i.e. all of them).

Kind of cool that the first two episodes have a load of scenes right on the cycle path on the Han river in Seoul.

I'm only on episode two, so I don't know yet if it has a happy ending, or a sad ending.

Well considering the tie in already with Strong Girl Bong-Soon I’d say probably the former 🙃

I’m up to episode 6 and it is complete bollocks… but enjoyably so…🤪

I have been watching Doona (only one episode to go, suspect sad ending myself). And rewatching Our Beloved Summer. And have Abyss on the back burner. Struggling with Uncanny Counters though…🤷🏻‍♀️

As for sad endings, anything with Kim Tae-ri and Kim Min-Jung, it could be absolute shite and I’d still watch it. That it is (for the most part) so good makes it a pleasure (on 2nd rewatch, last episode left to go…).

Looking forward to Castaway Diva (which has just dropped) as Park Eun-bin is usually excellent (See Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Do you like Brahms?).

PS @oldnpastit thanks for you recent thread from Korea I enjoyed it, especially the old palace/hanbok photos 😊

Recently got a Roku for our aging TV which came with a 3 month trial of Apple TV so will give Invasion a go, probably after Foundation.

Just done Wheel of Time, on Amazon Prime, ended up watching two near-hour-long episodes every night and consequentially stayed up too late every night his week. Fantasy/magic-powers not my usual thing (and I mostly steer clear of Marvel/DC) preferring sci-fi, but got quiet well into this.

Watched that last expecting it be a comedy real life cliche but didn’t really get it. A bit laddish, didn’t know where to laugh at times and then it merged into a poor version of the Hangover. I’d be interested in a 3rd opinion, perhaps it’s a bit marmite.
