ok I need a suit for a wedding (cant turn up in the shit I bought from next 15yrs ago - don't fit for one)!

anyhow here are the needs -

weddings, parties, races & funerals

do dark grey - black I was thinking.

but what about lapels?(what ever they are) buttons etc etc

I dont want to buy something and look like a banker.

I was looking here http://www.reissonline.com/shop/mens/reiss_sale/view_all/?filter_category_id []=1110&view_type=0&sort_by=0

still got to look good in 10yrs if poss, so nothing to trendy

i'm 31 btw.

I really like the suits from Next. I bought my last one in the Sale though. Managed to get a waistcoat too so it looks good for weddings etc but without the w/c can use it for parties etc

Single breasted, 2 button, 3 pockets, tailored or slim fit - IMO

You need to make a statement

It might struggle with the 'funerals' part of the brief, but as for the rest, with style like that you'll be beating them off with a shitty stick

I bought a Hugo Boss single breasted suit about 5 years ago, gets used for weddings and formal stuff (so not overly often). Still looks as good as the day I bought it and still seems to fit despite some slight weight shifts. Overall it's been a bloody excellent purchase.

Bought in a half price sale mind!

Jaeger. Single breasted, dark blue or grey, fitted cut. Classic English design at a reasonable price. They normally have a sale selection. I love mine, but then I also wear Paul Smith and am a slim build.

Next are good value, as are M&S, but the cut tends not to be slim enough.
