A tragic loss in such apparently innocuous circumstances.

My late mother-in-law died in a similar way, not on a ski-slope but she tripped over a wheelchair at a stroke association do and banged the back of her head. She got up and appeared to be OK but died later the same night from a massive brain haemorrage (spelling?). It seemed such a silly way to go and the wife never had a chance to say goodbye.

Without wanting to sound callous, but I don't think it will be a great loss to the world. But an utterly devastating one for her family and friends.

Don't mean to sound callous either but I didn't have a clue who she was and after checking her filmography I can understand why.

Time for another helmet debate???

I feel sorry for her friends and family, but (much as m_f says) not being a film-buff I had no idea who she was until this accident.

Sadly ever since that Northamptonshire blonde copped it in a Paris car crash, we have to endure these public outpourings of grief.

Terribly sad for all who knew her and loved her, but it's not really news, IMO.

She is most famous for being someone's daughter, wife and sister. (IE Vanessa Redgrave, Liam Neeson and Joely Richardson (her sister who was in Nip/Tuck).

Obviously she had a career of her own too, but she did much more stage work.

Gutted, seems crazy after the reports last night that she only fell on the baby slopes.

Uber MILF too lets be fair.

Well, apart from the endless national grieving after Queen Victoria's hubby Fritz or whatever he was called karked it and set the tone. But it was still the bloody royals.

But, yep, my reaction was, "Natasha who?"

Very true, lets all google her topless shots and crack one off in her memory. 🙄

There but for the grace of god etc...

Tragic for the family but not news, and at least she had a kind-of-reaonable innings (moreso than Jade Goody for instance)

To pre-empt the helmet debate it sounds like it might have been a pre-existing condition. If that's the case then a helmet might have postponed the problem but it would likely have made itself known in due course.

Now i understand that she might not have been as well known an actress as perhaps Angelina Jolie or Judi Dench but she was a great film and theatre actress and will be missed by a lot of people.

Don't be callous ****s, if you don't give a shit then why are you replying to the post?

just read this, sad, also scared the s**t out of me as I had a blood clot on the brain at 16 having had a slight biking accident. They thought I was whinging in the hospital when I said my head hurt alot. They next found me in a coma and rushed me into London to get it seen to. **** I'm lucky.

I do give a sh*t personally - but not for the world's loss - just for her family. Her death is no more important to anyone not connected to them than anyone else's death is to anyone.

I seem to remember somebody getting vilified and banned for expressing similar views about Jade Goody. Now it seems everyone's at it.

I don't think the language being used is quite the same as that which was directed towards Ms Goody.

For once I agree with CFH. Someone dies, there's a news story on a slow day and out come the Grief Athletes. For those posting what a tragic loss this s for anyone other than her friends and family, your main worry must be where to leave the cellophane wrapped garage flowers.

No, tis true. I wouldn't mind, I thought he had a valid point and put it across with eloquence, wit and sensitivity.
10 out of 10 rant if I remember correctly, one of STW's finest.

I knew from the Parent Trap movie where she looks hot.

I feel sorry for any family suffering a loss.

I didn't know her or Princess Di so I'm not going out of way or shed a tear etc.

I think life is very short and precious.

Wear a helmet folks even if just reduces the injury.

Very sad for all those involved. Won't be shedding a tear as didn't know her personally, but my condolences to all those close to her.

The biggest shock for me here (having lost a parent to a brain related injury) is just how unpredictable and sensitive the brain is. I have no reason to believe there is any kind of "cover up" going on, or that her blow to the head was more than stated (just a minor bump, after which she got up and felt ok). Just goes to show that there are, and probably always will be, things about the human body that cannot be explained. Without wishing to bring the helmet debate to this thread, I know for one that a helmet has saved my life whilst mountain biking at least once. I also know that from having spent time skiing/snowboarding, and falling many a time (including at speed and from height), that the blow felt to my head through the helmet I was wearing whilst mountain biking was FAR greater than anything else I have ever experienced. That is to say the crash I had on my bike was one BIG crash, not that the helmet didn't do its job (it did, it saved my life I have no doubt).

The point being that for her to die because of a small knock to the head, whereas other people (myself included) haven't died even after much more serious blows to the head, sometimes shit just happens, and for no reason whatsoever! And to those who least deserve it too.

Again, my thoughts go out to her family.

Funnily enough, they were the same person, and you appear to have an excellent recollection of those two particular facts.

I thought it was you, AdamG/Snigletrack/Cooligan, t'other day. Coon't quite put my finger on it though. How's the photocopying business?

Din't know the poor woman, and yes it's a shame for her family and loved ones etc, of course, but she was not someone in the UK ublic eye, and I'm a little surprised at the headline news her death has made.

Ah well, another Human Being, and deserves respect.

Alot of you don't know her because she kept herself and her family life prvate.
She was a talented actress and greatly admired in her profession.

I did shed a tear, only because she was skiing. This is a passion of mine and it's the first time I have heard of a fatality happening on a nursery slope.
So from one skier to another R.I.P.

Kind of agree with the above, i won't shed a tear but you've got to feel for the family.

Like bunnyhop, i'm more disturbed by how it happened, i've fallen a few times on my board this year and don't wear a helmet, although I keep thinking about buying one. Who knows what could have happened if i landed the wrong way or something.

I confess i've had to google to find out who she is. The only thing i've seen with her in was the handmaid's tale, though that was so long ago I can't recollect much of the film.

my uncles mum died from a bump on the head.

moved to new house. got up late at night for a piss. came out the bathroom and turned right. tumbled down stairs.

picked herself up, made a cuppa and went back to bed.

didn't wake up.

scary really.
