Foreign film with subtitles. Woman sobs into everything she cooks, then feeds most of it to the local village (if I remember correctly). It was in cinemas years ago. Must admit, I thought it was an awful film!

Sounds like a cross between Like Water For Chocolate and Babette's Feast... Probably the former. I think it's a wedding, isn't it? Her tears lace the food with sadness and make for mass misery when it's eaten.
