Shameless plug here.  My friends Jamie and Hannah who are Quiet Houses released their first album today.  It's called, we're all in love and is cheery Scottish/indie/pop.  It's tough trying to make it in the music biz so if any of you could give it a listen that would be much appreciated.

They're also out on tour later in the year.

Its good, very shoegazy Scottish retro pop as you say.

I've shared it across a few forums I'm on in their "what are you listening to now" threads and its had good feedback.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.  I have some of the earlier stuff on cd, thanks to mum and dad having a clear out.  They're definitely worth seeing live too, we have tickets for the home gig in Edinburgh on October the 8th.

Saw them supporting Esme Emerson in London a few weeks ago, they were excellent live! Highly recommended. Tickets for their tour are bargain priced too.

Based on my first listen I'll probably get a ticket for that. I'll prod a few other people to see if they're interested too.

I'll also hopefully remember about picking up their album when the next Bandcamp Friday hits on August 7th. 🙂

She sounds like Harriet Wheeler from the Sundays which can only be a good thing.

Will have a proper listen tomorrow when we play it in the shop.

You need to get them to set up some sort of online honesty box so that people who download their music and really care about bands can pay them the money they are due.

Great stuff, I’ve listened to the album twice. Now, I’m a great fan off the Sundays and the Cocteau Twins and the music is reminiscent of both bands, but that not Harriet’s voice I’m hearing and certainly not Liz Fraser’s. It’s been bugging me all day and I’ve come up with is Suzanne Vega. Not a bad thing, I hope you’ll agree? The accent and the doubled-up vocals I think do it.

I’d certainly go and see them if they ever come to East Anglia.

Thanks for the tip, I like what I’m hearing, I’m a sucker for Indy pop, alt folk and rock, Americana, and I’m reminded somewhat of Paper Aeroplanes, who I saw a few times, and Sarah, their singer, who now records and performs as Bryde, along with a bunch of others whose names I’m struggling to bring to mind, there’s quite a few!

I’ve gone through their back catalogue, and added them all to my Apple Music Library, where they’ll be in good company!

I see they’re playing Bristol Rough Trade in October, so I might go and see them, if they don’t conflict with someone else, and they aren’t - I booked tickets for Dar Williams last year, and the tour was postponed, it’s just been rescheduled for 6 October so it’s doable.

Thanks again folks.  I've listened to it a few times this weekend, with new and old songs they should be really good this Autumn.

The music is great (I’ve been listening again this morning), but I’m not a fan of those helium balloons 😳

Saw them when they supported Tide Lines in Aberdeen a couple of years back and have been following them ever since. Good to see some new stuff and hope we get a chance to see them performing up here again soon.
