score draw in the morning session, though india needed to win it 10-0 just to keep level.

Just finishing a lazy, sunny, boozy lunch at the Robin Hood listening in to TMS. Will be spending the afternoon listening and snoozing off the 3 pints of HPA in my hammock in the garden

Sounds like the new ball is having little effect other than to go off the bat a bit quicker. Fingers crossed.

This India team a delight to watch, but Kohli is an aggro little **** and it is nice to see him losing his rag and not able to buy a run.

🙊

That back foot punch by Root was sublime. Such a shame it was the over after Malan's square drive, we didn't really have time to see enough replays of that before we started watching replays of Root.

I can't quite comprehend how 'mismatched' teams are. They were toe to toe for most of the first and second tests and then England just sank with barely a whimper.

Now India look like they've never played the game while we dominate.

I don't 'get' what has happened to Ishant in particular. He never looked up for it from the off...?

Ah, that’s better. A lower order collapse. Familiarity returns.

Test cricket is bonkers these days, love it but it seems to be a mental game more than ever. Would have loved Hameed to get a ton. Thoroughly enjoying the pendulum swing in England’s favour, knowing it will swing back!

I may have mentioned that I'm not a fan of Kohli, but one statement has changed my opinion, from a couple of days ago.

"We're going to have a bat"

(yes I know you always bat first but that's not gone well has it 😉 )

What a pasting. Fantastic from Robinson. Anderson did his job unsettling Kohli as well despite only the one wicket.

Hopefully the openers can build on their improved performance, can't always be relying on Root.

top four all scoring 50+ makes a huge difference. Batting in pairs too, sharing the load, rotating strike, etc. Even if you're scoring yourself, someone else just stopping the opposition thinking they've got an end open makes a big difference.

Sounds like England have had a word with the groundsman at the Oval and he's prepared a cabbage patch to play on. And Root won the toss.

Over to you, seamers.

And as befits two countries run by petty nationalists - two national anthems, the versions of which seem to have been selected for their resemblance to North Korean TV.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🍆💦🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

🇮🇳🍆💦🇮🇳

Now that embarrassing shite is over - can we get on with the game, please?

should have batted

It seems that way right now.

What on earth is going on with Ravi Ashwin? There must be something going on behind the scenes, surely?

I'm not sure even Kohli is enough of an arsehole to ostracise him just for that, but I may be wrong.

Ashwin himself has looked a sulky, petulant individual many times in the past too.

Perhaps it is basically a dick measuring thing between them.

I've also seen speculation it might relate to people being annoyed by him leaving the IPL halfway through then playing for Surrey. Who knows.

Yup it's pretty evenly poised now I would say. Looking at what we have to come a collapse is very possible. Good match anyway!

2 more wickets gone already.

All aboard for what looks to be another rollercoaster day.

Also, it needs reiterating that the ball that Umesh dismissed Root with was a jaffa.

It's only day two, lads, FFS.

Two recognised capable batsmen in. Play properly, accumulate with as little risk as possible. Just get as much of a lead as possible, time is not an issue.

Play properly. Play each ball on its merit. There is no need for heroics right now.

Why on earth hasn't Woakes been in the team this year up until now? In home tests at least his bowling is great and his batting extremely useful.

He’s been injured.

I didn't think he was injured the whole time but perhaps he hasn't been fit also.
