If you remember the loon in luminous fleece from "the munro show", you will enjoy the book.
I have been laughing out loud at sections of it...

Good reminder - I read that years ago but it vanished in one of the missus' purges of books.

There's quite a few of the Munro shows on youtube. I never saw these first time round so really quite enjoyed catching them.
Getting Sorley to do the gaelic bit was an inspired choice.

There was a wee clip about mountain biking on one episode of The Munro Show but I've never been able to track it down.

For absolute embarrasment, does anyone remember the follow-up show?

Wasn't there a shopping trolley on that episode? Time to hunt it down

I've got that book somewhere but don't recall being all that impressed with it.

I've got the book and also have by fond memories of the show. Yes it was made on a budget and could be very corny at times, but it was also made with an obvious love of the hills.

I still laugh at the wildlife in the woods scene.

One of the best shows involved wet weather - and what des an self respecting walker do? Go gear shopping. 8)

Cue a shop assistant abseiling down to ask 'can I help?' To an unsuspecting Muriel, with 'jangly, climby bits' that she now felt compelled to buy... Genius.

I have both series of The Munro Show on VHS, recorded onto DVD also created AVI files from the DVDs onto PC. Just something about the show that was out of the norm.

The follow up was the golden cagoul. So bad it was compelling viewing. Quite liked her translation of the Aonach Eagach = Hill of the brown underpants.

Muriel was good, but Sorley Maclean!, well if you have any Gaelic blood in you at all the man was a genius. His accent and translations were a reminder of summer holidays on North Harris staying at my grandparents

My Muriel Gray story:

She was backstage at Live Aid in Philadelphia with Jim Kerr when Madonna was making her way to the portaloos surrounded by minders shoving everybody out of the way and owning the place.

So she and Jimbo sat down outside the loos and when Madge came out, they proceeded to wave their hands about and hold their noses, saying loudly "Fwooaaar, you don't want to go in there for dump, she's must've dropped a big one" - or words to that effect.

Teehee.

I loved the golden Cagoule's "fingers on buzzards" round.
