Which island should I visit with the ladyfriend / bikes / dog / camera / scope kit?
I am liking Mull at the moment... I am a keen birder and the mrs likes sea life... dog doesnt care... we all hate the midges though...

Birder? Sea Eagles on Mull plus otter watching as well. Isle of Iona to visit plus distilleries.
arrans lovely also - whisky for a western isle is lovely.
nice quiet well surfaced roads , nice trails , good walks/scramble.
wasnt a fan of skye so much - but i dont really like walking and there was lots of that there ...
never been to mull - its on the list !
I've only ever been to Mull, and it's bloody lovely. Was walking rather than riding though.
I'd recommend a walk up Ben More and along the beach to Carsaig Arches, though getting across the arches was a bit hairy when I was there...
If you do go to mull its as quick and cheaper to do Corran ferry and then lochaline / fishnish
Mull is amazing for wildlife, saw dolphins playing around in Tobermory harbour from our B&B, and an eagle nearly took out our car!
Mull, then Skye then Arran. I reckon Mull has the best balance of things to do. Stay in Tobermory, visit Iona and include a trip to Staffa, go to Calgary beach. Probably less bikey than the other two but a great holiday!
If you go to Mull I'd thoroughly recommend taking the boat to Staffa and Lunga in the Treshnish Isles:
Harp Rock on Lunga is an amazing place. Massive colonies of nesting sea birds on an impressive rock stack and puffins at your feet everywhere. And of course sea eagles at Loch Frisa. Stunningly beautiful beaches at the north end of Iona (makes a good walk from the ferry landing).
I don't know so much about biking on Mull though I did ride across the Isle of Ulva to Gometra (turned out to be a bit of an island bagging trip when I was there).
For biking and hill walking (probably more the latter) myself, I would go to Skye.
