Is it completely random, or is there a solution to every game?

random (in so far as a CPU you generate random numbers...)

But there's no guaranteed solution to each set up.

Some patience games are apprently always solveable, like spider.

[i]For a "standard" game of Klondike (of the form: Draw 3, Re-Deal Infinite, Win 52) the number of solvable games is between 82-91.5%.[2] The number of unplayable games is 0.025%[3] and the number of games that cannot be won is between 8.5-18%.[2]

I thought you meant you were going to solve an office argument by playing Solitaire. I was wondering how that would work. I thought that a fight using little stabbing knives would be more effective, and a greater spectator sport.
