There is probably just much resentment against each other so I suggest removing all users and getting them to rejoin with a different username. It would then take at least a week for the resentment to build back up...

I have to admit, I often avoid the threads on here that just look like they will descend into petty arguments and try and stick to the 'fun' ones, but they are becoming harder to pick. Even the Rugby thread was less about Rugby than it was about petty arguing and name calling last 6 nations round.

I thought the same but then I have not contributed to it nor have any interest in doing so. I am an outsider on that one and it does just look like most threads - arguing and point scoring for the sake of it.
I personally find it better to just leave a comment and then return a day later which removes the back and forth and the emotion and any replies can be caught the next day.
