Today bumped into Mark Owen From Take That...

Stannard and Dowsett.
Rhodri Morgan (RIP) he used to live near me I suppose would be the most mainstream 'famous' type.
Other than that a handful of Pro riders over the years in the Alps or Whistler.
Was Mark Owen riding?
Iainc
Joe Burt
Dimbleby and his badly behaved dogs.
Was Mark Owen riding?
Nope ...
Which one is he?
Yesterday whilst riding past Althorp House some big black cars and motorcade passed me...no idea who that would have been.
Joan LLaneras whilst having a coffe on a ride a couple off days before he became world champion again in front of his home crowd.
Vinokourov who got saved by a mate a couple of days later from beiing roobed or stabbed as he was cycling straight into a very rough area. Missed Mario Cippolini though sadly the same week apparently by a couple of minutes.
Frederic Kessiakoff decided to come and do one of our small local races one day as well.
Caher - That would have been CaptainFlasheart.
Rode with Thierry Marie some years ago. More recently ridden with CX National Champ Ian Field and Simon Cope (ok, some may think more infamous than otherwise but he's alright by me)
BITD I was up in the hills S of Machynlleth, had to stop to open a couple of gates in a farm yard so was pushing the bike. Sat in the farmhouse garden was a bloke who definitely didn't look like a farmer, very lived in face and long curly hair. Had the usual chat about where I'd been riding, the weather etc. Couple of weeks later I'm watching telly and there's something on about Led Zep, recognised the chap as Jimmy Page, doh!
The Queen pulled her Range Rover onto the grass verge to let me past on a single track road whilst riding between Sandringham and Anmer last summer.
Chipps.
Not that famous, but needs must when the Devil vomits in your kettle, as my gran never used to say.
Oh, I've ridden past Flashy's country residence, I think.
Similar to Caher, many moons ago riding towards Althorp main entrance carrying a bit of speed from the small downhill before the entrance and a sports car pulls straight out infront of me followed by a big 4x4, had to brake for the 4x4. First reaction was to shout ****ers then it dawned on me who it was in the sports car and the people in the 4x4 were the sort not to upset.
Chris Boardman on the Etape in 2009 - brief exchange of words early on (I was in my Manchester Wheelers kit - that has his amateur team).
Bradley Wiggins - I was going one way. He was going the other to join in the Bickerstaffe midweek chain gang. He was riding the 2011 TdF a couple of weeks later...
Various other Olympians when I used to ride the track at Manchester.
Bloody hell I miss riding a bike.
Chips, Dave & Sanshoe Sanny off here 😉
Chris Chance of Fat Chance bikes
Mike Bonny, Orange bikes
Steve Wade, Orange bikes
Been photographed by Andy McAndlish a few times
😆
I met Cinnamon Girl in a lay by in rural Hampshire a while back. *swoons*
Some bike celebs people have pointed out in some places I've been, but I'm hopeless at recognising people. Okay, there's Brendog and crew, but they're regulars round my haunts.
Wiggo and the like I've had riding past my house, but that was Tour of Britain.

Had her charging past me in Windsor Great park with Phil (she was driving), but I wasn't on the bike.
Years ago I bumped into Mark Weber in the pits Mountain Mayhem, talked about trail conditions and stuff. I felt all F1 after. I didn't go any quicker though 😀
Dr Who
Peter Capaldi
Hora
Rhodri Morgan (RIP) he used to live near me
I think you're my neighbour, P-Jay.
As for me, though, there is a 'Luke Rowe' that rides many of the same segments that I do on Strava. I doubt it's the same Luke Rowe, but I like to humour myself.
Binners
Emmeline Ragot
Me and the 2yo (in a baby seat) tried to race two lads with all the flash kit on.... It was Adam and Simon Yates.
Only bike people, doesn't really count does it? It's like Lars Ulrich being excited because he met James Hetfield again
Pete Postlethwaite at the foot of Minton Batch, Long Mynd.
Boris Johnson on Hyde Park Corner
Binners.
That lanky yank fella with a 29er bike (like that'll ever catch on!!) at MM in Sandwell.
Met Jo whiley whilst playing around in the woburn jumps area.. I think she and family had got lost whilst out walking and ended up on the tracks
Chris Boardman,
quite a few of the extended Bikemagic Family.
When I worked at Gatwick probably too many to remember but I did sit next to Oli reed in the Shakespeare inn whilst England played Scotland in the 96 euros.
Steve Worland... RIP.
Oh that reminds me
Met Jo whiley whilst playing around in the woburn jumps area.. I think she and family had got lost whilst out walking and ended up on the tracks
Also met Jo as she lives in Pottersbury just down the road and my old electrical firm installed loads of lights for her.
Also mark Webber in Woburn several times when he raced for Redbull in MK.
Not while riding but riding related.. I services Gavin Hastings' bike when I was a mechanic in an Edinburgh bike shop many years ago.. Long enough ago that he was still playing.!
Rachel and Dan Atherton at a commencal demo day about ten years ago. Jonny Vegas did an angry overtake* on us during the Manchester 100 two years ago - only to sheepishly have to do a 3 point turn a mile down the road when he realised he was going the wrong way!
Nearly mowed down a pissed Andy Kershaw coming out of a pub in Todmorden at the end of an MNPR once too.
HtS, Rusty Spanner, Binners, Chipps, hora and ton 🙂
*In case you were wondering, he was in his car.
The Australian prime minister.
He was in his car though.

She must've been on a speed awareness course then because I had a "this is going to be tricky" thought as the RR approached, then she pulled over in plenty of time, I waved to say thanks, clocked Her Madge with her headscarf on at the wheel, jaw slackened off as I realised, Mrs M didn't believe me.
Tea loving Guy 😉
Grown men excited at meeting a bloke from Take That... I ask ya.
Bradley when he was a junior on a Sunday club run.
Eddy Merckx 3 weeks ago, and Paola Pezzo, then met the Mayor of Verona, and Mr Alé.
Greg van Avermaert in May.
Oh, and Az.
No-one really. Closest I've come was bumping into Cy Turner riding over Mt Famine. Didn't say hello as I was deep into the waiting list for the UK Rockets at the time and thought it would be impolite to rant at him...

Possibly, at the time I was living in Wenvoe and Rhodri was in Michelson Le Pit - my usual triangle was Wenvoe to Michelston to Dinas and back - I'd run into him on most evening rides, he'd be listening to speeches or reports with a single headphone, he always said hello and occasionally have a short chat, never about work, He seemed a really decent Guy.
Guy Martin riding an Orange 5 with a lady friend on the first climb at Glentress.I was behind them for a wee while and they very politely allowed me to pass. It was before all his TV stuff.
Andy Whyment, the Guy who plays Kirk in Coronation St
My friend and i met Terry Butcher and his wife walking up the Red trail at Abriachan as we were coming down.
Saw a chap ahead of me once on the commute and thought ... i'm slowly gaining on him ... so committed to a pass and committed to putting the same effort to show I wasn't just out to pass him for the sake of it.
half a mile down the road and >>>whoosh>>>... he rockets right up beside me with a smile.
Look down at his bike noting its slim steel build and then noting the signature painted onto it... "Obree"
Ah...
He jokingly commented about being passed and not letting someone away with it. Then followed one of my favourite commutes chatting away the rest of the way.
Its nice to be able to genuinely say I've caught and passed Obree ... 🙂
Phil Decker and Dan "from Nam".
Chris Froome several times. Rode next to him once on a training ride - not for long though. Was cool having a Sky support car behind me for a short while.
Dan from Nam, Robbie Hunter when he was SA champ and Daryl Impey - all in South Africa.
Brightling Horse Trials is at the end of my road. A couple of years back 2 of us stopped to let a horse rider cross from the car park to the event field - it was Zara Phillips. In Jodphurs.
The Rev Richard Coles out walking his 4 dogs. Lives in the next village really great bloke. Stopped for a chin wag about art and music.
Vanessa Raw cycling in Lanza and one of the Chilean miners running in the NYC marathon 🙂
Pat.
He seemed a really decent Guy.
This is exactly what I have heard about him. Decency can be underrated, and I am not sure that always Wales knew what it had when he was in government.
The Rev Richard Coles
We follow each other on Twitter. 8)
All at Stainburn:
Rob Roskopp of Santa Cruz Bikes/skateboards (got a photo with him).
Ratboy turned up on a dig day.
Brownlee brothers out MTBing.
Seen not met: Nicole Kidman on the red carpet outside Chelsea cinema (almost went into car in front of me as he was doing same thing as me) and along same road almost knocked off by lawrence dallaglio when he opened his car door (I let him off with a shout of ?anker).
Robert Plant filling pot holes in the lanes just outside Kinver.
Perhaps more impressively, Dave Hill of Slade fame
Trevor off of being in Trevor and Simon en route to Morzine
Prince Andrew. Nearly rode into him 8)
Chipps.
Not that famous,
Met him some years ago on the NYM. At least I think it was him.
Well it looked like him anyway.

Or Robert Plant.
On a ride - Cav, rode with him for about 15 seconds.
The guy who won Masterchef and then went off to do a successful fish restaurant was our guide in Spain (in the gap between filming and broadcasting).
Rob Warner and Nigel Page were at BPW the same time as us - Rob is quite shy and retiring in real life 😆
Jarvis Cocker - pulled up outside the cafe in Edale the other week in some battered 80s Yank-mobile. Had a nice chat about his car - told him he needed bigger rims. Seemed a decent bloke, and I don't even like Pulp.
Whilst pre-ride faffing in a car park near Rivington Pike I (very nearly literally) bumped into Freddie Flintoff, who was exiting the gents as I was going in. He's taller than he looks on the telly, and built like a brick outhouse.
Lee McKenzie when she worked for Border TV filming @ Mabie and Dalbeattie.
Georgeous 😛
Tim farron on Garburn pass, that's it, not even any famous bikeists
Jo Burt after a charity bike ride from Brighton over the South Downs, early 90's, got a lovely smile and wave from a lady driving towards me when I pulled over a bit to give her some room on a narrow bit of road near Lacock, it was Camilla Parker-Bowles, and Anthony Head outside Avon Valley Cyclery in Bath one Sunday afternoon.
Not riding but standing in the queue for food at Townhouse Studios Goldhawk road in the '80s.
Phil Collins tried to barge in front so I told him to wait his turn.
He was recording his first solo album at the time so it served him right.
Wiggo, Doull & Clancy (at the same time).
My wife and I have come across Michel Eavis a couple of times whilst out riding through some local nature reserves just outside of Glastonbury; he was out on his bike (electric I think) too.
Tracey Moseley last year.
Also used to see Jeremy Paxman quite often in the Chilterns walking his Labs
Paul Scholes walking his dog as I came found the corner, grabbing the panic levers to abide his dog, dog so big petting while chatting about the bike... As a Man utd fan that was a good ride
tracey moseley
big ron atkinson
various blues, villa and wba players as its "posh" up the road and all the footballers tend to move in
roy wood
most of ub40 (see footballers)
can't help tripping over "celebs" round here.
Seen but not met: Ian Stannard while out on my road bike yesterday, looking supremely fit. Saw Laura Trott on her bike last year while out on my road bike. Also saw Josh Bryceland riding down the Middlewood Way when he was recovering from his broken foot.
Seen Nick Craig loads of times at MTB events but I'm always too shy to go and say hello.
The lady doesn't look very happy about your wandering hand, Cougar... You could have at least yawned!
I actually saw and had a brief chat with Brendan Fairclough while out riding - normally see him a couple of times a year out on the trails. He joked with one of my mates that it was good of us to let him ride with us given he was on a 29er - co-incidentally that same 29er was up for sale a few weeks later
Not sure if you count them as famous, but similarly seen and spoken to several of the MBR guys (Muldoon, Danny Milner, Roo Fowler)
A few others I've seen while out riding, but not met them so that doesn't really count
Billy Ocean.
I was on an Evans Ride around Chobham Common, and he had been running around there. Held a gate open for me, so stopped and had a chat with him. Told me he was keeping in shape for his upcoming tour. He even offered me free tickets, which I stupidly, stupidly declined. An absolute gent he is.
