Looking for a Morzine/Les Gets type of week away later this year - but not in Morzine/Les Gets.
I'd like a week away, but not all biking so white water rafting, canyoning and general touristing would be good too.
La Bresse looks good fun, but does anyone have any other recommendations please?

Never been outside of Ski Season but Tignes is always heavily advertising itself as a Summer destination for general biking/hiking/swimming/watersports/flying/jumping off things/jumping into things/paddling through things type activities!

I've been to La Bresse a couple of times but only to break up the drive on the way home from Morzine. Decent bikepark is fun for a couple of days and there's a campsite right outside. There's an adequate burger bar next to the campsite for hot junk food. Not much variety unless you drive into town for food and drinks.

I haven't really explored the area but I'd suggest it's worth a visit but certainly not a destination in itself.

What about Les Deux Alpes? It's an actual town with a bit more going on. Nice alternative to Morzine if you want a change of scenery. The run from the bikepark down to the campsite in Venosc is mint!

Livigno?

Haven't been for a while but worth checking out.

La Bresse is fine, also close to Lac Blanc for more, but different bike park fun. La Bresse as a pretty fine collection of XC trails too.

But, they are both kinda small and there’s not a heck of a lot to do outside the bike parks.

So, I’ll stick my standard recommendation in: Graubunden in CH. In summer you’ll get some crazy good deals in the mountains for accommodation including lift pass. Check out Flims/Laaz, Lenzerheide, Davos, St. Moritz, and Chur as kinda the biggest base town of all of those (though Chur is not really up the alps, it’s down in the valley). Epic long flow singletrack with 3000m descent over 10s of KM, bike parks, Rosti in the many cafe’s etc.

I’m going back this summer, can’t wait! (Lenzerheide as base)

Timely thread this. @ready are you thinking you need to cater for non-biking family as well?? I did Morzine last year with family (first time to the alps from them, normally Beach bums) which was great, but have been looking at the Italian side of the Dolomites, but struggling to find something that has Morzine levels of non bike activity...

Les Deux Alpes is an okay town but the trails around it were too bikeparky for me. If you like berms all day you'll be fine. Venosc is a lovely place though.

Chamonix is also a candidate and has an interesting mix of stuff, particularly if you can drive up the valley to Le Tour, or down the valley to Les Houches and even over into St. Gervais. The trails around Chamonix are quite steep and techy, if that's relevant, and you need to check which are open to bikes.

Seriously, anywhere in the Alps. My knowledge is more focussed on the French Alps, but there is loads to do everywhere. Climbing, Via Ferrata, Walking, Rafting, MTB, swimming in a lake, Luge things, crazy zip-lines, Go-ape equivalents. Pick a valley. It is all there. And cheese, lots of cheese.

Haute Maurienne Valley and Durance Valley

If you want to know what Chamonix is like, just head to Blackpool. Although Blackpool probably has better food and prices

Have you looked at Solden in Austria. Not too far from Innsbruck airport.

The riding is great, not bikeparky. We went two years ago and planned to go back but, you know…for me, my ability, the riding was way better than Morzine. 10km flow/xc downhill trail and the like.

Seems to be a family friendly resort but not sure how much non bike activity there is in summer, we went just before summer hols and it was pretty quiet. But area 41 (or something like that, a big adrenaline water park) is just down the road. There is a fairly big river running through too, so maybe WW rafting is doable.

Die Berge hotel is great!

Excellent, thanks for the replies all!

It will just be myself & MrsReady, probably 4 days of riding with a couple of rest/tourist/jumping off things days in between.

I'm liking the look of Lenzerheide - thanks @big_scott_nanny - I shall investigate further!
