Only -4 here but I just got in from my bike after solo snowy night ride and pub stop. Nailed the snowy icy steps that stuck me on my backside the other night and trashed the side wall of my front Highroller. Don't know how that happened but anyways that particular demon has been exorcised. Cold innit?

A rather poor -9.5C in the hillfoots of Stirling but Stirling itself is a rather warm -7C...

We've had hardly any snow so have missed out on all the fun (saying that, we have had about 1.5" of the stuff so it's not all green round here - but most of it is!) and now we can't even win in the temperature stakes!!!

Minus 14 here last night. I'm going nowhere today. Even the gritted and clear roads are frozen.

As a Winter Solstice challenge I have camped out for the last four nights. Been down to -8C. I bought an awesome Hagloffs sleeping bag and have been dying to test it out. Its rated to -40C. I doubt I could find anywhere in Scotland that cold.

That just reminded me, got a 99p outdoor window thermometer the other day. Duly installed on the outside of the window, may require some sort of calibration though, apparently 25 C in the living room (it wasn't).

Falkirk-Mark - what kind of car do you own? My Fiat Bravo's gearbox was seriously stiff (frozen) today, but the other cars I have access to were still buttery smooth - all parked within about a 10m radius. I know the Bravo had a gearbox issue where moisture was getting in a corroding the insides of something in there and it was corrosion/freezing that was causing the stiff box. I'm hoping it was just the cold weather and not another warranty gearbox!

No mercury visible on the thermometer here at the foot of the campsies (Torrance) and it goes down to minus 10.

Just went out to change the chicken's water and must say it's the coldest I've felt for a long long time. Brain freeze just from breathing!

Citreon C5, But I am positive its the linkage as I replaced it 4 years ago and the symptoms are exactly the same. (bloody french putting the gearstick right above the Cat then having the heatshield touch the bottom of the gearstick assembly, once the heat gets to the grease inside the assembly the grease breaks down and resembles the inside of a milky way ) 😕 .Still after today I have nearly a fortnight off to fix it 😆

Not quite, but it was minus 10 when we finished riding and minus 11 when I got home - right enough I do live just down the road from you and got in about the same time 😛

my sis lives in Peace River, Alberta, and likes to do a bit of walking.
I got an email from her last week saying it "wasn't so nice for walking" at -22C in the daytime.

And the other day (or was it night), -46C at Edmonton airport - second coldest place on earth.

my mum went to visit for Christmas a few years back, minus 20something most of the daytimes. One day they were stood in the supermarket car park loading up the car: "isn't it warm today?" says mum. it was -7C
