Have had a strange smell in kitchen for a day or so, told my better half that I would need to look under the sink base unit when I got in last night to see if I could spot a leak. Just before I arrived home she emptied 2 pints of out of date full fat Jersey Cream milk down the sink and, when I took the plinths off the base unit, most of it was soaking into the bare concrete floor under the unit. I have washed what milk I could off the concrete and then bleached it (I know I won't have made the best job of this as access was pretty restricted) but the smell is unbelievable today 8O. Currently fixing the leak, so does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of the smell? Given enough time will it go away on its own (he said hopefully but without much coviction!)? Cheers, Tim

I'd go with Baking soda - seems to work on a lot of nasty niffs.

You can get special 'anti-sick smell' gels and liquids too that might be worth a try.

We had similar, but a wooden floor.

Cat litter to soak it up (not the clay based stuff!), baking soda to get rid of the smell.

Must have gone through best part of a kilo of baking soda over 2 weeks.

The best way to remove the smell is to scrub it with a strong mix of biological washing powder and water and leave it on overnight. It sorted out my car interior.

if that doesn't work paint over it??

Mask the smell with some fresh mackerel fillets placed underneath the sink unit. Just fit and forget.

My car still smells nearly a year after a bottle leaked a small amount of milk in the boot. Hope that helps!

As above, washing powder does the job

Am I still on STW? No-one’s mentioned coffee grounds as a deodoriser!
