I was sure that he'd been cleared... ****ing cancer.

Just remembered a cross London trip I made years ago in my old Golf GTi belting License To Ill out of the stereo at full whack... Happy days.

I saw them at Wembley arena, they played in the centre on a revolving stage. I was very very close to the front. It was brilliant.

The Beasties are, I think, probably the biggest effect on my musical taste, my biggest influence, possibly tied with the Sex Pistols, possibly not, it's hard to say.

RIP Adam.

What a crew: not only for rocking so hard as hip-hop brats, but everything since! Re-reading Grand Royal still makes me laugh out loud.

Digging it out right now, not heard it in years,

I don't think Pauls Boutique has ever, ever been off my play list / iPod / pile of cds or tapes in car. Most of the rest of my play lists are the tracks sampled on Pauls Boutique

RIP.

Can't quite believe it.

When I'm riding great, and everything just flows, all I here is either Sure Shot or Flute Loop. Same as Poddy, they've been the only constant in my music collection over the years.

I was born 1970. The Pistols I remember from early junior school, the Beasties from early secondary school. To me, they both have the same feeling, the same attitude if you like. Hard to explain.

I can't think of any musician's death that has had this affect on me.
Saw them at Birmingham Odeon in 1986 when they (and I ) were just children, fell in love with the energy and always kept them in my life.

The first 'real'gig I went to was Run DMC and Beastie Boys at the Royal Court in Liverpool May 1987, aged 14, courtesy of my mates dad.

The Beasties shaped my musical life, got me in to Hip Hop, which got me in dance music, which got me into trouble and they were there when I finally matured.

God bless and RIP.

Jan 1971 - both the beastie boys and the sex pistols were the sound track to my exams

This is going back a bit - before Licenced to Ill, when there was a girl in the beastie boys

Weird, I somehow missed this news when it happened, then saw some pics of MCA today and felt really sad.
Such a great band. Who would've thought they'd release such consistantly good stuff over so many years.
will be tuning in to Zane Lowe (just hope he keeps his gob shut)

Props to Bristol's Cube Cinema for last night's MCA tribute night (a whole bunch of Beastie films & vintage hip-hop being spun in the bar) - good stuff.
