Just intrigued why the two recent threads on our PM have been pulled within a page. Were some offending (?) posts deleted as there wasn't anything that controversial in either. Not questioning the decision, merely intrigued...

Do we need more threads with the same people not reading each other's post ad infinitum

Just intrigued why the two recent threads on our PM have been pulled within a page.

I closed one as it was broadly a duplicate of an existing thread (the NHS one). Dunno what the other one is you're alluding to.

We have 4 and a bit months until May, can't think why a springtime thread would get pulled in winter 😛

I hope that there's a plan in place for the arrival of spring or are we going to wing it?

Hard spring or soft spring? Maybe we can keep the good bits like dry sunny days and lambs, and skip the downpours and surprisingly frosty mornings. Surely mother nature will agree to that, she needs us more than we need her

My preference would be for similar threads NOT to be closed down and just be allowed to run their course until energy is lost and another (similar perhaps) topic replaces it. These threads with 20 or more pages are more offputting to me than a similar sounding but fresher topic. At least if I click on something in the first 2-4 pages then chances are some aspect of the original question/statement/topic remain.
Obviously when folk double post an identical thread, or when its a PSA or dead celeb announcement where folk think they are the first to start a topic, but miss the one a few rows below then it makes sense to just have one thread, but for everything else I wish things would just be left to run their course. Not losing any sleep over this though!

Doesn't the EU referendum thread function as the general politics thread, as that is now the prism through which everything is now viewed?

With the Jeremy Corbyn one as a quick fix if you're a bit bored and just fancy winding JY up for a bit? 😀

If certain posters are challenged to provide evidence to back up points, or threads aren't going to expectations, they have a tendency to start a new thread rather than deal with the old one.

Thx, Coug's - as I said just intrigued as two had appeared and had been closed on only one page without any obvious reason. Plus I was driving v early this morning to airport and there was a news item on someone suing FB over responsibility for publishing inaccurate info and I wondered if there was any link.

Obviously not and you were correct that the latest one had veered into a repeat of the NHS debate.

Carry on....

There's one broadly criticising Right Wing politics/ U.S domestic (Trump) there's one broadly criticising Left wing politics (Corbyn) and there's one broadly about domestic politics (EU ref).

What more d'you want?

Do we really need two concurrent threads on NHS privatisation? I didn't think so and "reported" the 2nd one as a duplicate.

I don't know some of the political threads are quite good once the chaff is discarded in the first 4-6 pages and meat of the argument get's going. But then it usually becomes circular within a few more 😆

If you don't like them just don't partake or read it's easy.

No ones hand is being forced. Just because you don't agree or get angry/offended/sad doesn't mean topics are off limits. It's a forum i.e. a public place for discussion, with pretty fair moderation IMO. Long may it continue.
