Hi all, advice please. We're stopping in Manchester for lunch on our way up to the lakes tomorrow (don't ask, I know other eateries are available) We need to park a high top long wheelbase Boxer van near Ancoats. Or, somekind of park n ride type thingo.  What's the best option?

What sort of van? Camper? Valuables on board?

I've parked my LWB van up behind Strangeways prison in the 'rag trade quarter' and walked into town, the van was empty though and didn't look out of place

You could park it at the velodrome. Two car parks, one in front (with the solar panel roof thing) and one around the back. Both free and about as secure as it gets, there are always a few vans around the place.

Tram from there (the stop is in front of Asda on the main road) into Piccadilly. Trams about every 12 minutes during weekdays.

Ancoats? Lots of parking around there. Or lots of parking behind Piccadilly and that area just over the road. Good luck.

Before it's too late change your plans. Come to Bolton, park up a side street, and have lunch at Rice and Three on Bradshawgate.

Good park n ride option at Sale water park, easy access from M60 and tram right next to parking, would save queuing into to town.
