Guys and gals and etc,
For a few of us, all this gender stuff is a big deal and quite scary. I just wanted to say that, for someone who had gender issues for a long time, it was refreshing and encouraging to read many of the comments on this thread.

I'm too much of a gentleman to even [i]think[/i] about posting that question! Anyhow, I know that the money was spent on correctional surgery to 3dvgirl's skull, as she herself confirmed in a thread a couple of weeks or so ago, so I'm sure that we can all accept that she's all the girl she says she is. 😀

We start as teenagers with broad minds and narrow waists. In our thirties this reverses. Later still we get the time and experience to re-think.

Nice one slowoldgit. As a long term visitor here (but not a bighitter (TM) ) I think I'm pretty clued up about ATG, but fell shy of commenting. So +1 to your comments which put it better than I ever could.
I'm a 4-ish male on that scale. I like sport but not fighting, just as happy with wine vs beer, crap at growing a Mo or beard, and I cry at sad things and happy things all the time.

@samuri - you can pay privately for surgery but the same WPATH Standards of Care must be met before the surgery can take place. So, that means demonstrating to two different gender specialists, consistently for at least one year, that you understand the one-way nature of surgery* and desire the end result.
Once you have the two signatures, you can either join the long queue on the NHS and wait another year or two or pay around £13000. There are only two surgeons in uk so you get either one privately or not.
* or, as one of the specialist psychs likes to say, "it's easier to make a hole than a pole..."

Just for more interest, I'm not sure why but where I work, at one point we had three people going through this process *in the same department* of about 250 staff, all male to female.
Maybe we offered it as part of the benefits package. 😉

I sometimes work with a young teenager who is dealing with similar fears and have found your honesty and positivity on this site very useful.
