^Wish I could agree with that BB.However, outside Macdonald's tonight a gadgy was stripped to the waist and threatening the street wardens!Meanwhile at my mates house the police were booting his neighbour door in.This is Middlesbrough mind.
The above were only at 7.00pm as well.God knows what else I missed
I've been saying for ages its far too expensive for folk to go out
we took the plunge and for a family treat had booked a table at a small Malaysian restaurant local to us, very nice, just mains and pudds for the four of us, no booze, came to £135 plus tip 😬
and yet the place was full of folk ... families, couples, groups, I guess it's Christmas 🙄
^^ soft drinks cost almost as much as alcoholic ones in restaurants now, so that’s not too bad at under £40 a head for 2 courses and some juice.
On the 2nd last train home right now and it's very quiet and civilised
hope it was one on the new leccy ones ?
Halifax was disappointingly sedate given the usual Friday night bedlam.
I was in my regular drinking establishment in Melksham tonight, I’ve seen it busier, and I’ll be there again tomorrow, but there’s still several more days to go next week before Christmas, so I expect things to warm up a bit by Christmas Eve.
Out in central Newcastle last night. We’re going to watch The Toon tomorrow and met up with some friends from Florida who have came to UK for a Christmas break - they want a cold Christmas! Away from the heat - and over to watch some “soccer”. They are going to see the game tomorrow too. Crazy NUFC fans.
The Toon was super busy but everyone seemed in good spirits - although we were only out to 10pm.
i spent plenty of the evening working as a translator ….. “what did she/he say”.
Busier than normal in the village. Still quieter than normal night a few years ago. Still the same people drinking now as the was then, all 50 plus. None of the younger folk are pub regulars, the 20’s are skint and the 30-40 yr olds are all working to pay a huge mortgage and a posh car.
“Out” in Dundee last night and was fairly quiet, but it’s gonna be when your out early doors with Mrs a11y and 2 x mini a11ys. They were the only kids in the food place. All very civilised. Wandered briefly though the city centre and Christmas market (dead) then back to hotel bar. Barely registered that it was so-called mad Friday but perhaps it was carnage later on.
- Out with friends for a Xmas meal to a pub in the sticks that's usually rammed . It was dead 🤔we thought people just don't have the money then driving back we noticed a load of cars outside the village hall so maybe that's where the action was !

I guess so but for a family meal it just feels a fair dosh of cash to lay out, but since it's Christmas we did 🙂
I ended up in Humble Pie pub in Rammy and it was a decent Friday night out. Had a seat, easy to get served at the bar and background music but not too loud.
I'll aim to go again prior to next year's mad Friday.

Considerably less than our total meal cost with drinks.
Anyway, the ‘drinkers’ pubs were packed by alter afternoon early evening here, some had been busy since 12pm and one steady from 9am. I kept away from those ones last night as wasn’t that kind of day out for us.
No, £40 per head for a good meal with drinks is not far off going rate. Unless you go for a cheap eatery which is not something I readily do for family meals.
"Socialising has changed massively, and it's not necessarily a bad thing"
I agree Fort William at least has much less of a pub going drinking culture amongst the under 40s. They tend to drink/socialise at someone's home. That's probably a bit of a mixed blessing
Or maybe I'm just too old
I just picked up Binnerette number one up from uni in York today. She had the misfortune to be working behind the bar at a club last night. Her verdict? “I can’t stand the amateur drinkers you get out at Christmas. They’re all absolute arseholes!”
There were numerous fights, including a bloke punching a woman in the face, the police were called 3 times, a really pissed bloke projectile vomited over the bar and at the end of the night she had to try and wake up a woman who was asleep sat on the bog with her trollies around her ankles
Not usually arsed but ended up tagging onto the wife's unofficial works do, ended up in probably the roughest pub we could find but was a good night TBH

An average night out in an STW retirement village!
A good Friday, started in The Old Contemptables in Birmingham for a pint then the Staffordshire Hoard and Pre Raphaelite exhibitions at the art gallery. Round to The Prince of Wales for more ales and the Lady wanted a cob. Couple of pints in and a lad sat next to us who turned out to be Madness's keyboard tech.Had a good chat and ended up on the guest list and the aftershow party(thankyou Darren.)
Squeeze were the support and both bands were excellent.

Username checks out..I don't blame you! 🤣 🤣 🤣
It's not for me, too noisy, too many 'weekend warriors' who can't handle thier sauce, and I don't like battling to get a drink when the bar is 3 people deep!
I did go to the boozer for a few this afternoon though, before it got too loud and busy.
