um iLife?

get your photos in iPhoto and pick out the ones you want to use - get them in an album all by themselves

iPhoto will do you a basic slideshow - but you get better results if you export to iMovie. You can then play around with different pans and wipes and things. drag your music of choice over from itunes

then use iDVD to create your DVD menus and stuff

I managed it with my holiday photos it must be easy!

If you want a more interesting use of Ken Burns effect pans, Photo to Movie may well float your boat.

Create the slideshow in iPhoto as I don't think it has a limit and then export to iDVD. Just worked for 200+ photos for me.

iDVD all the way - as with Sandwich i've just done one for a client with >200 images, no problem.....
copy originals (ie drag folder) into i-photo, drag and drop to i-DVD and away you go.... 😀
HELP system on I_DVD is handy and THIS LINK may help..... 8)

EDIT - sorry - try THIS one...

What type of Mac are you using as the older ones cough a bit when asked to manipulate lots of photos and use iDVD at the same time. My 2GHz G5 is getting to this stage even with 8Gb of RAM! G4 laptops may not manage an acceptable speed at all.

Create the show in iMovie. Then you can add titles etc.

Then use iDVD to create the DVD menu screens and burn the disc.
