[Closed] Lunch in Glasgow

I quite like mediterraneo for lunch. Or Bloc.

What ye looking for? Cheap? Need to narrow it down a bit RD

There's two just round the corner from each other - a coffee and cake bit on Gordon St and a food place just round the corner on (I forget) street. Quite wee so can be busy.

Guys in the merchant city is good too

a bit difficult to find but Singl End is my fave just now

Not cheap, not extortionate. Good coffee a must

Guys is probably a bit on the spendy side if its not a special occasion. "Wee Guy's" (same guy) is a good bet though

Head out the west end, Hanoi bicycle shop for cracking Vietnamese grub, wee wander round the corner to artisan roast for coffee and their awesome homemade brioche after.

Then wander down to the free kelvingrove museum, if you have time. All Glasgow museums are free, they're a great asset to the people of the city that use them.

Butterfly and Pig on Bath Street? but probably go elsewhere for the coffee.

Epoch in Princes Square?

There's only one answer to this; Paesano Pizza on Miller Street (also Great Western Road if you're in the West End). The best pizza I've ever had, including a trip to Naples last year.

Is Cafe Gandolfi still there?

Paesano pizza is a good shout.

Go to the West End and wander around 'til you see what you fancy, it'll take about 3 minutes. Lucky man, I worked there for a year a while back, my favourite city in the country (whole of UK not just Scotland).

Finnieston is 'the new west end' these days, used to be a bit of a dead zone, but really vibrant these days and littered with bars and restaurants.

This is really due to the hydro opening, read a wee while ago that it's the 4th busiest entertainment venue on the planet, ahead of Madison square garden.

Great stretch of places.

Crabshakk down Finnieston. Order all the crab cakes.

Can't go wrong with Paesano either. Brilliant pizza at a decent price.

Are you familiar with the tandoori munchy box?

If you're in Glasgow and don't have one, you're missing a trick. You could maybe wash it down with Bucky and shout at some buses

Where the monkey sleeps in the city center , great coffee and amazing sandwiches .
If your on the train Gordon st coffee right at the exit of central station does really nice coffee but is more of a takeaway place .
If you do go to finnestion lebowskis does imho the best burger in Glasgow

Bonner's that's a sh1t munchy box. There's no naan bread ffs

The Argyll St Where the monkey sleeps is indeed quite nice and an upgrade to my usual Philpotts on specialish occasions.

Laboratorio Espresso on west Nile st for coffee though.

Blue Lagoon! if you don't mind rubbing shoulders with Rab C and his mates.

+ 1 for Crabshakk and Paesano. If it's the latter, go to the one on the Great Western Road then go to Cottonrake a little further on for good coffee and untold pastry delights.

NB. Regrettably, Riverhill is closed. Just the coffee bar open now. Martha's in the centre of town is a great quick lunch stop.

Superior Chinese in Opium - superb Dim Sum.

Ox and Finch and Alchemilla are the best in town IMO, but getting a table at short notice is tough.

Another vote for either Paesano for a pizza, or Finnieston - Alchemilla probably would be do-able for lunch, but Ox & Finch is always full, has anyone said Mother India yet?

I was sad to see Riverhill in town go - they stopped their Friday / Saturday night dinner menu after their head chef left - the one in Helensburgh is good though.

I'm starving now.

Thanks for all the advice, had a grand day out. Parked in the new car park under the Sikh temple and
Walked for miles. Visited Kelvingrove, GoMA and lots of interesting venues. The architecture is stunning. I much prefer it to Edinburgh.
Lunch in Where the monkey sleeps was excellent but i have to say coffee and cake was better in Riverhill coffee bar on Gordon st.
I was sad to leave but it was a really fun day.

Glad you enjoyed it.
Pity you got to experience it in typical August weather though.

I've been travelling to Glasgow for work for the last 10 years, I've always loved it, had some fantastic meals out over the years.

We enjoy some ridiculously good food here (plus deep fried delights)

Last time I was in there I actually wondered how long that would have taken someone 😆

Then a rather lovely nan bread roll & bacon appeared (like the ones in Dishoom in that there fancy London) and my attention turned to stuffing that into my face top-speed instead...
