I doubt many people on here have watched it from day one but the finale is being played in sync with the US at 5am this morning (thank god for Sky+)

anyway its been a mad journey and been a great show (in parts)

im actually glad its finally over, i loved the Dharma days and the hatch, think they lost the plot and to be honest the whole jacob candidate thing is a bit lame and crap.

so in a nutshell it was about 2 brothers, one killed their mother, the other gets p*ssed and throws him into 'wookie hole' ( the centre of the island) and he turns into a plume of smoke and goes mental. Then to beef the story out for 6 seasons jacob needs 'somebody' to look after the island cos he's knackered and they bring a load of people to the island on a plane.

it could have been so much better, but i guess you have to give them credit for how big it became.

i just know the ending is going to be a soppy american tear jerker....

Haven't missed a single episode since the beginning, and it's all shaping up nicely for a big bunfight at the end. Not around to watch the recording tomorrow night though, so will have to put my fingers in my ears until Tuesday!

It was Old Man Withers, the guy who runs the amusement arcade, he did it. And he would've gotten away with it without those pesky meddlin' kids.

I watched the first two series, and it sounds like they were the best
unless I missed any gratuitous nudity

I watched it consistently until Virgin lost Sky 1. I watched it for longer than it was enjoyable to me - I suppose I'd invested so much time I felt needed to continue; was a relief when I was forced to stop really.

Hammered all six series in two months. Can't wait for the final, hopefully find out what the shit is going on

If they wake up and it's all a dream, somebody is going to get a kicking

Like a couple of others I watched the first two seasons then I got bored.

I might watch the last one and try and work out the bits I missed 🙂

Did they ever explain the polar bear?

I watched the first two series with my wife. She then stopped watching. But I've kept going.

She asked me yesterday what has happened since series two? Not an easy question to answer.

"Well they went back in time...and there was a submarine.. and Locke is dead but..."

Did they ever explain the polar bear?

I think it escaped from the zoo. Does that help?

they really did f*ck prison break up didnt they, that was a total farce series 3

the polar bear (i think) was used as a test subject via the donkey wheel (how mad would that sound to somebody who has never seen lost LOL) hence ending up in the desert.

I watched one episode. Granted it was in the middle of a series but that was enough. IIRC a chap had found a load of food on the beach and when the others asked where he got it and he said 'on the beach', they all accepted it without question. That was enough for me. Just stupid.

another that's watches it all. As I see it, there's no way the ending could live up to expectations so hopefully it'll just not be silly. Besides, the way I see it, everything has pretty much been explained hasn't it?

The polar bear was on Danielle's ship that wrecked wasn't it?

V+ ing it tomorrow morning to watch tomorrow night.

Yeah you'd think Hurley would have lost some weight by now. I'm pretty sure I didn't see a Burger King on the island.

aaaaaaaaahh i get you know, the polar bears running round the island, dharma had them as test subjects and one escaped (as above)

That was the guy who found all the food on the beach. I was wrong, it does all make sense.

I don't think it will be.

To give them credit, nothing has been formulaic and by the book to date so I can't see the ending bucking the trend.

Expect a Sopranos type ending IMHO.

I watched the first two series reasonably avidly then got very bored and gave up. Imo like many TV shows/films it's good at creating an air of mystery about what will happen and has interesting ideas but ultimately falls flat when it tries to actually go somewhere with it and explain everything.

Last two seasons not great but previous were good.
Glad its finishing now, has been two seasons too long IMO.
Not sure what the Wife will do when she's no more Sawyer to drool over.

I think I got about halfway through S3 before giving up. S1 and 2 were great though. Do the polar bears, smoke monster etc ever get explained?

The pilot episode was amazing. Think I got through 2 seasons before thinking it would go on forever, and gave up. Not sure if I can be bothered getting back in to it now.

I watched up to where the guy got sucked into the jet engine on the beach - then I lost interest. Was that quite near the begining?

Not really.. I vaguely recall someone called Jacob, something to do with a cabin on one of the islands.

The island was perhaps purgatory, they're all dead, and it takes a Christian Shepherd to guide the protagonist to heaven.

The island didn't exist, it was there to bring together dead souls at the point of death. However, I didn't understand how some people were meant to have left the island but were still going to heaven at the end, and some people who weren't on the plane still were in the church.

So, in summary - watch Ashes to Ashes and change 1980s London for a desert island.

I think the flash sideways timeline was supposed to be some form of purgatory.

The church with different religions in made me angry. All the science, time travel and so on, then they drop that piece of shit in there.

Noe, the island was real, it was the sideways flashes in this last season that was purgatory - I realy enjoyed it, just wish that I knew more about the island origins, or maybe I don't

everything that happened on the ISLAND happened

the ATL (alternative timeline) didnt exist as we know it, there was no time frame.

when they died at certain points they all ended up there, only when jack died they made their way to the church and connected. that was the bit many people couldnt get their head around, it was quite clever. the last scene with jack walking through the jungle then dying was epic

still think it was a bit of a cop out though, mind you that was the only way they could keep the majority happy i guess.

as has the rest of humanity that originally got excited about this utter load of carp.

each to their own, IMO one of the best shows on TV in years as it wasn't spoon fed to you like other crap, you had to think for yourself and it caused much discussion, it was original.

Watched 2 or 3 episodes, then realised they were gonna drag it out for 6 series, and swiftly got bored...didnt seem like it had a plan.

Then again, LoM/A2A got like that in the second series of A2A, but i still watched all of it, and enjoyed it immensely 🙂

So Jack died right at the end when alt-locke stabbed him, others died before him e.g. Boon, Libby etc and others died after him e.g. Ben, Hurly etc. but they were all there together at the church - so even though the sideways flashes ran parallel (in time) to the real world on the island and they only begun after the nuke was set off at the end of S5 there is actually no timeframe to place them in. Is this right?

Sounds a bit lame, as well as annoyingly stupid.

"How the **** are we going to end this?"

"Howsabout it was all someone's dream - worked for "Dallas"!"

"Ooh, I know, I know... they're all dead!"

Well if they're all dead, how come they're still walking around and talking, you ****wit? Grrrrr 👿

I think so. This was hinted at in a number conversations in the Church. Christian saying "there is no 'now'" to Jack. And Hurley talking to Ben about how they had been a great No 1/2. Ben/Hurley looking after the Island must have happened after Jack died.

I can see why you'd have a problem with that 😆

We felt a bit let down by the ending, but thinking about it more, it makes sense (in a way).
They didn't really go out of their way to answer a lot of the questions raised during the last 6 years though, did they?

You could do, but that would be missing the point, a lot of the show is character driven. Like The Wire- you could summarise the storyline for each series in a couple of sentences, but why would you want to do that?

i thoguht the ending was ok in hindsight. i've no problem with a lack of explanation for ALL the mysteries, though i do get the impression that entire seasons could have been removed without affecting the story, way too many 'dead end' story lines.

it is a load of tosh, but so is everything else on TV. as something to watch in the evenings that gets your mind thinking that isn't too serious its great.

my girlfriend used to complain about it, but happily watches Coronation Street. WTF?

So the sideways flashes was pergatory, which the characters that needed and had the greatest impact on each others lives constructed. It seems odd that Desmond and Eloiuse would be disacussing the fate of the others in this sideways flash world.

So we understood (sortof) about the flashes but for me that was only one part of S6 and yes we've leant about the orgind of Jacob, MiB, Richard etc but we never learnt anything about the island, including how Jacob was able to bring all the people together on that plane on the first place, where did that forest woman come from, how did MiB become the smoke, why didn't Desmond or Jack also become the smoke? How did the pylons stop the smoke (how did they even find this out), where hell did that staue on the beach come from? what did hurleys number mean? Richard and his men, instructed by Jacob killed all the Dharma guys, why?........and quite lierally hundreds of other questions.

what did hurleys number mean?

The episode with Jacob's lighthouse resolved that. The numbers were the candidates.
