Leave it, it's probably just stopped for a rest and some dinner...

The owner will not want it back.
If it has decided to stop in your garden instead of race home, then it is in the wrong job.

Funnly enough we had this last week. I saw it in the garden before the bank holiday and it was still there when we got back 4 days later. Sitting there in the rain looking very sad for itself. It wouldn't let me get close enough to check it's ring / tag.
A friend's dad is a pigeon fancier and he said to put out some rice for it. When we looked again a few hours later it was gone. It was right next to the bird feeder but I guess it was too heavy to get anything from it?

The old box, stick and string method? Bit of bird seed should do for bait

It might belong to Tyson.

Although I don't think he lives in Ireland.

It's only over the sea a bit
They fly these birds from France and similar sometimes, so seems creditable that it's Irish

I've got a pair of Wood Pigeons as regular visitors, and they usually hang around under the Acer where the feeders hang, or around a couple of metal hooped jobbies which have roses growing up inside, which have feeders hanging from the top inside. One of the pigeons has sussed that if it perches on a reinforcing ring near the top, it can get at the feeder, and will now elbow aside the goldfinches and sparrows and sit there stuffing it's already plump self! Cheeky bugger... 😀

Surely it's a found racing pigeon?

Did it look like this?

Or this?

If the latter, I have a sneaking suspicion I know who it belongs to....

Its probably just cheating in the round the world race and sitting it out in West Wales till the others catch up.

Given him a bowl of guinness as he wasn't drinking the water i put out.. seemed to go down quite well but complained at how id poured it. Have also named him O' be jaysus.
Emailed the people in Ireland yesterday as listed above but haven't had a response.
