I think the difference here is that it was just random and she was in the supermarket shopping.

I can't see the point of 'joking' about this horrible incident btw. And yes I'm sitting on a very high horse before anyone asks.

I was quite surprised that people were joking about it too, as it's so horrific I really feel for the family. I don't think it matters, random or not you have to be seriously ill to do that.

But on the same topic - apparently you can still communicate via eyes etc for a few mins after, but can you imagine having that done to you when your alive. It makes me feel sick even thinking about it.

Ok, perhaps not the time to debate *but* I doubt the above. If the blood/oxygen supply to the brain is severed then game over pretty instantly.

The video interview on the bbc of a witness was odd. Along the lines of 'I saw this guy with a severed head in his hand so I fumbled in my bag for...'

A knife? A bottle? Some other improvised weapon?

'...my camera'.

I'd have run away (most likely) or done my best to preemptively kill him in self-defense, not taken bloody holiday snaps.
