Looking for a 3 man tent for me and the kids (wife not interested in camping...) Ideally something I can pitch myself as the kids idea of helping will be to steal the pegs. It doesn't need to be too big, we'll only be camping prob 2 days at a time I have only really looked at two options so far:
quechua - Seconds 4.2 family
Outwell - Oakland M.
The Outwell looks great apart from the fact that if its raining the slant of the opening is going to let water in when you open it. It also looks like it will be difficult to pitch compared to the Quechua BUT it does have a nice area to hide inside to escape the weather midges.....
Any thoughts on these or alternatives. Max budget £200. Thanks
There were a few threads about tents earlier in the year.
You might find them on a search 😉
I bought from these guys: http://www.a2zcamping.co.uk/ they do ex-display, factory seconds etc - seemed like a good way to get a good tent cheaply and I've been happy with it.
(I went for an SunnCamp Evolution 600 - but probably a bit big for your requirement. maybe the 400?)
I'll second grahams on that, I got the evolution 400 fr the same place based on his recommendation and very happy with it
We got the Quencha as a weekend tent instead of wasting a couple of hours putting up our Vango Diablo 900. 🙄
All i will say is BUY it! , really impressed, 2 minutes to pitch and easy to pack if there is 2 on you and had a bit of practice.
😀 😀 😀
We got the Quencha
Quechua actually, I have two and had the misfortune to use them both in quite frankly tornado conditions, and they are simply fantastic and even more fantastic VFM. I have gone to Decathlon for 6 years now for everything sports/leisure related and not found anything at Go Outdoors that yet rivals their stuff for quality or value.

Quechua Seconds Family 4.2 it is then, 1/3 off which is always nice.
Quechua are pretty good and cheap as anything from your local Decathlon.
Another one for the 4.2. Had one for a few years and the speed of putting it up, and packing away is fantastic. Sturdy tent too.
I will post in abit (on mobile at mo)
I've got a Vango Gamma 350- its NOT big enough for a couple and toddler. you can get away with it but its not fun. If you have a car then theres no space issue for carriage etc. So get a bigger tent. I went for a Hi Gear Mojabe 5. Go see them in Go outdoors. They last a lifetime and pay for themselves within two trips. Plus it makes that first impression- worthwhile and fun. Especially if you get a camping spot with power hook up for a heater and tent carpet. Go outdoors also sell returned/repaired tents cheap.
Go on Ebay- you CANT go wrong with a Vango Icarus 600. Plus if you don't like camping- sell it on afterwards.
thanks all, Quechua winging its way to me now.
