They were on 'The Tube'.
It was like rap/hip-hop but not rap/hip-hop.
He wore a long leather coat.
He had a live band.
The backing track to every tune was pretty much identical and each number blended into the next
It was a 'regional' US live hip-hop thing (roots in one city - but I can't rememebr which) that was going to be HUGE and take over the world (but obviously never did!)
Someone out there knows what I'm on about.
gogo music from Washington DC?
black guy, white guy, hispanic guy, something else?
year?
Was it Trouble Funk?
Remember them being on, saw them in Manchester as well, a very, very good gig ๐
Grandmaster and melemelle or somehting like that - I was there!! (for that one anyway)
Definitely not Grandmasters Flash or Melle Mel that I'm thinking about.
It could well be Go-go but I remember something a bit more laid back than that Trouble Funk clip. Also, I remember them being inside the studio. I wonder if there was another go-go act on?
It is, of course, entirely possible that my memory's playing tricks on me.
bloody hell. no shot too long on STW!
