Shell Island is nice, especially if you like, um, shells. Check the tide times though.

We had a holiday there this summer. Son was sailing for the week out of Pwllheli so we stayed just outside Abersoch. Lots of nice quiet roads for cycling - high hedges reminded me of Cornwall. I really wanted to go to Bardsey having spent some time there as a yoof but the weather as crap. We also camped at the very end which was lovely.
The beach at Hell's Mouth was walking distance for us - currents possibly a problem but v popular with surfists.
At Criccieth you're well placed for little railways, slate mines,,castles. Plenty to do.
