First off, Happy Christmas folks, I hope it's been a pleasant and peaceful day for everyone.
We're off to Llanberis for a few days and wondering about current conditions higher up:
Does anyone know if the road up to Bus-Stop quarry through Deiniolen and Dinorwic is open?
We're staying up past Blue Perris farm, so as long as we can we can get up to the turning circle we should be able to carry all our gear in from there.
Any advice much appreciated.
Blimey Rusty Spanner, we often stay at Fferam Fachwen. If the weather there is anything like here you should be fine. I'd take a shovel as well.
Snow tyres, 4X4, rear wheel drive, etc debate possibly soon to begin though.
Hello Ambrose.
Cycling up the Fachwen? Are you bloody mad 😀 ?
I always feel safer coming up through the village, been squeezed against the walls too many times!
We've got a climbing club hut just past Sally Brown's farm (Blue Peris).
Our access road is through the farm, (which is just off to the right before you get to the outdoor centre) on the road that continues past Bus-Stop quarry.
If you hear anything from your friends regarding the conditions would really appreciate a heads-up.
Looking forward to a trip round Moel Y Ci and a blast up to Marchlyn Mawr and back through the quarry 🙂 .
Small world eh?
Any locals about?
Metcheck says more snow and freezing conditions next week whilst the BBC says a thaw and rain.
I've got a week off and don't want to waste it, but don't fancy a 130 mile drive to find we can't even get into the hut.
