What happened last night was not funny. Far-left activists disrupted the event, which then had to be stopped for security reasons. This is done to intimidate people and suppress free speech. I won't stand for it. Would we see the same reaction if the activists were far-right?

Her take on events,  lol

It was funny though wasn't it Liz?

When you take out all the people in the audience who knew what was going to happen......the nation really wants to hear what she has to say.

She did stand for it though, didn't she? She got up and stropped off.

Her lack of self-awareness is truly a joy to behold. Keep digging Lizzie.

Unreal. She needs to grow a much much thicker skin. She deserves to be made fun of. She was an ABYSMAL PM.

FYI LIZ - YOU WALKED OFF THE STAGE! NOBODY TRIED TO SHUT YOU DOWN. YOU MANAGED THAT ALL ON YOUR OWN.

God she makes me angry….

? ????

It is funny, remember she used to be a lib dem, then she was a tory, and now she's...whatever this is..

No politician with any integrity could make such a galactic transition of philosophy... She's nothing more than a shill hunting for the next pay-check, plain and simple.

I didn't post it at the time as the forum was not playing nicely but I loved Tim Farron's tweet day after the election and loss of her seat.

We have recalled Agent Truss from the field, her work is complete.

I'm not sure whether she's desperately trying to grift, or that the humiliation has completely detached her from reality to be honest.

I don't think she's humiliated. Humiliation requires you to know that you were wrong and it's been pointed out to you in front of others within your peer group (who have subsequently ridiculed you). She genuinely believes she was right all along and that it's only the despicable intervention of the far-left loonies that kept her from achieving greatness. I don't think she's got the self-awareness to know she's being ridiculed.

She's off-the-charts deluded, in fact probably certifiably psychotic (delusional disorder being a form of psychosis). Trump is similar - believing himself to be the greatest ever, the best, the most intelligent.

I think she's may be more delusional than Trump. Much as I hate her for what she did, and it's easy to ridicule her now, she seems so far out of touch with the world I genuinely think there may be a medical issue and I feel pity as much as anger.

She is of course a useful idiot but one of those 2 attributes is not going to be permanent. It'll be interesting to see where she goes when that happens

Let's face it, the remote controlled banner was amusing but what really made it was her reaction.

Saying, "that's not funny" is guaranteed to make it funny and then having a tantrum and stomping off stage just compounds it.

Oh, this is the beating heart of the Truss Empire it seems, where she held her, erm, huge rally". 😀

Imagine being a PM then going on stage here to your adoring crowd...

"It’s just a bit embarrassing that such a forlorn figure was ever our PM."

I don't feel embarrassed at all.

I've never voted conservative and never will. I'm not part of her party and despise the party members that voted for her and everything they stand for.

She will hopefully remain (pun intended given her volte face) a dull unreflective low wattage beacon to warn how close this country came in capitulating to unrestrained unregulated market forces.

I genuinely feel that if we hadn't had our lettuce moment then we might not have been where we are today with actual politicians in charge. They might not be socialists but they aren't grifters either.

She's also pouring fuel on the right wing fire like Farage did with that last sentence.

As usual she had no original ideas and can't read the room. Even SYL and his thugs have moved on from that

I thought it was really funny, and I trolled her on her own Xitter account and told her so. No idea if she’s responded, but I did get a ‘like’ from someone else.

I don’t care much about getting responses, I just like trolling the shit-talking trolls in their own backyard.

Either that or just psychopathic or maybe a bit of both.

That made me chuckle.

Is she ill, a psychopath, deluded or is it just a bit more simple? She is grifting. Just earning her money and falling down the same right wing pay day rabbit hole as Brand, Hopkins, Fox etc. She has to feed the paying trolls as where else is she going to earn her income?

where else is she going to earn her income?

You would think she should be able to manage on her' lifetime' former PM salary.

Then again, she may just always  be that sad and  hopeless attention seeker.

I think it's a combination. Doesn't help that she is as thick as mince - should never have been let near running a bath never mind being allowed to run the country. Hopelessly out of her depth, she tried to create growth in the economy by giving the rich a tax cut using economic theories discredited since the 80’s. She's too stupid to understand how stupid she is and is now in a situation (entirely of her own making) where her own psychological makeup / wellbeing cannot allow her to admit the truth, namely, that she was exposed as being thick on an international and historical level.

There's an interesting interview with Kwarsi Kwarteng on the Newsagents podcast this week. They have a discussion about Truss, it's quite enlightening. He says at one point of her "She lacked the ability to read a room"

For that matter, it's interesting hearing the opinions of Kwarteng also, offered the choice of vote between Harris (very left wing according to him) and Trump, he still chooses Trump, despite that fact that I think he recognises how that sounds...The compartmentalisation is quite astonishing. He recognises that he'll be forever known for the mini-budget and the events surrounding it, but still thinks it was a good plan...Denies the effect of Eton and private education in general, and that politics is a game for him, and then uses, casually, a sporting reference to talk about parliament later on.

Kwarteng and Truss had an affair so that says pretty much everything you need to know about his judgement.

On a related note, I'm sure that the two of them locked up in Chequers for a long weekend of economic planning and mini-budgeting was entirely about work and didn't at any stage involve a coke-fuelled shagathon.

She has always come across as being more than a bit thick. When she was environment minister she turned up at some floods (Somerset levels?) and expressed her surprised at how wet it was. It was obviously just another photo shoot for her.

Her poor Dad must be so embarrassed. He's a maths Prof at Leeds yet his demonic offspring has occupational dyscalculia, not real dyscalculia, but the kind where the numbers are hard so she cannot process them despite her self-declared love for numbers.

Kwarteng comes across as one of the most arrogant and delusional people in the world imo. Genuinely thinks that he's more intelligent than basically anyone else on the planet. His arguements around economics and social issues are totally incoherent, he just delivers them with the confidence that an Eton education brings.

On Truss, I've thought for some time that she is suffering from some form of mental health issue and as someone who has suffered from them myself in the past, it's not something that I throw out there lightly.

Jacob Rees-Mogg was very similar, in fact he almost admitted as much across several interviews that he more or less read and remembered quotes from the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations and reeled them off at appropriate moments.

Classic Eton thing where the aim of the game is to win the argument, even if you're wrong. It's a combination of debating skills (which Truss doesn't have) and an unshakeable belief that you're right (and a genius) which she has in spades.

If you can add those two ingredients into a posh voice, some pithy Latin quotations and an ability to talk down at the poor people (which both Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson has by the bucket load), you're onto a winner.

Part of the failure of Truss was because she only had one of those ingredients. Boris would have bullshitted and blustered his way out of it.

I know someone who worked a bit with Kwarteng when he was business development minister. Apparently he had a habit in meetings of telling industry experts why they were wrong when their facts disagreed with his opinions.

There's a bit more from the book in the Guardian report, and another source claims that it was actually the Treasury who came up with "stop cancer treatment" idea (rather than Truss) to try and illustrate to Truss how extreme the cutbacks would have to be to fund her tax breaks. So the headline seems to be a slightly misleading representation of what actually happened.

Of  course this does not change the fact that Truss is an incompetent and dangerous loose cannon who should never be in a position of responsibility again.

of course. It’s the drug of self congratulation for the political and media classes. They wouldn’t suspect it to be the reason why things are going badly when it’s their little treat for when things are going well.

Fairtrade Cocaine obviously, not the knife crime child exploitation cocaine that they report about as part of the day job

As said, it's because they are all on it. I do know that Tory HQ were very concerned that cocaine pics from the lockdown parties would come out, it was fairly widely known/accepted.

It really annoys me that our parliament / the tories are so full of cocaine as is a lot of senior finance / business and nothing is said about it.  It causes so much damage.  Trusses budget was at least in part cocaine fuelled in that Kwantang clearly was full of drugs and vastly over confident as a result.    Johnsons behaviour looked very suspicious to me.  Gove and Osbournes as well.

Pretty much although you have to look at the return on investment as it is not cheap to use regularly.

I think folks like Gove, Johnson, Truss, Kwarteng don't really need to additional help of cocaine to make them overconfident in their own abilities, I think they manage that all by themselves. It's indicative I think of that era in our politics is that it was staffed by politicians who believed their own hype and that by just the force of their personality they could change reality to suit their needs.

The cocaine helped tho for sure.  I have no doubt several / many of the tory cabinet were into their coke.  The high it gives also attracts that type of personality

Interestingly I know of no politicians of other parties tho there must be some
