it wasn't a vote of no confidence, it was being used as a bell weather for whether there was still support. ie: back me in this vote or get chucked out of the party.

How did the fracking vote get turned into a vote of no confidence? As far as I can tell Labour are saying the Tories did it, and the Tories are saying it was Labour. Does anyone know the answer?

LOL! Stop thinking. There is an energy crisis at the moment and nobody is going to stand up to be the scapegoat coz that's a political career gone.

Wonder if she will cry? I hope so.

Why? She is human after all.

Be so funny if they let her give her speech

And then just lock the door to No10 so she can't get back in

Can any of the politics experts explain something for me:

How did the fracking vote get turned into a vote of no confidence? As far as I can tell Labour are saying the Tories did it, and the Tories are saying it was Labour. Does anyone know the answer?

I'm not an expert but...

It was an obvious trap to get Con mp's to out themselves as supporting fracking which will go against them in a GE as the general populating are not keen on it.

Government turned the vote into a vote on the government/ Truss basically and really, totally skrewed it up.

A simple trap set by Labour that has exceeded their wildest dreams as even they couldn't imagine that Truss would bugger it up so badly!

So apart from the unions and immigrants, who else do you think she will blame, pixies?

Labour brought the motion to Parliament as opposed to the Govt.

Tortes don’t like the fact that the opposition took over the legislative agenda so she made it a “back me or else” Sadly it was an issue that a lot of MPs feel strongly over.

Iirc if she calls a GE then she'll stay as PM to fight it. There won't be a leadership election until after when they get beat and she resigns.

Please, please, please... let the door open and she be unceremoniously and unwillingly shoved out of it.

Looking at all the candidates from Tory Party I can say only Penny Mordaunt has a better chance of stabilizing the boat

I think she'll be in as a caretaker PM. Monday was her job interview in the commons.

Unless the deputy steps up just for laughs.

Yes, wait until Labour is in power. Probably will be even more funny when Labour keeps drumming on climate change related stuff ...

So not forced out, just that no one else believed her mental policies and 'mandate' then?!

Must be some shenanigans behind the scenes to get this sorted sans the membership surely? That can't go full Braverman after this surely? Surely?

And so the next phase starts. Illuminating to see an establishment figure calling for people to hit the streets if they don’t call an election.
