Chief Whip gone, apparently. Farcical. Does he strip himself of the whip?

I reckon we'll see a punch up in the chamber before too long.

Full on banana republic.

From an MP that witnessed the scene:

I’ve never seen scenes like it at the entrance to a voting lobby. Tories on open warfare. Jostling and Rees Mogg shouting at his colleagues. Whips screaming at Tories.
They are done and should call a general election.
Two Tory whips dragging people in. Shocking.

@RustySpanner there's a pint of creme de menthe (or drink of choice) and a man hug with your name on it here if you want it. Well done for doing the best you can with the little that you are allowed.

None of this would be happening if Her Majesty was still alive.

She knew how to keep the Eton toffs in check. Gawd bless err

Edit: I feel that I am watching Titanic and Lord of the Flies simultaneously.

Apparently Truss didn’t vote with the government (or didn’t vote at all?)

Yeah, apparently Thérèse Coffey really went for it.

It's rumoured to have been caught in a video...

The vote should be null and void then if it's all true.

https://news.sky.com/story/labour-motion-that-would-have-forced-a-vote-on-a-bill-to-ban-fracking-is-defeated-12724777

So it looks like the fracking vote was hijacked due to the apparent ongoing collapse of the tory party?
Surely that can't stand and we need a general election.

This is ridiculous. I'm sure I'm not the first to suggest this but surely it's time to give Larry the top job?

This is absolutely surreal and extremely worrying. JRM bullying (or 'reassuring' as he's just put it on Sky!) MP's through the voting hall. This has to stop, it's ripping the whole country apart. Normally I'd laugh at the Tories ripping each other apart but this is beyond anything that could be even considered funny. But I don't know how it can be stopped.

We're ****ed.

No, the vote is the vote. But those involved in bullying should be held accountable and suspended / removed as appropriate.

On Sky Rees Mogg is denying it was bullying, a bit of discussion and finger pointed but not angry, just confused. He's claiming some unnamed junior from #10 sent a message saying it wasn't a confidence vote and that created the issue (but the last speaker on the debate, Graham Stuart, repeated that)

Absolute chaos.....

I said to a mate earlier that Braverman sent the 'home address' email on purpose to give a reason to resign and start the collapse.
Then she'll be back in 3 weeks when whatever comes of this sh11tshooow has come.

I just rewound the BBC live news and watched that Charles Walker interview- it's absolutely blistering. He does nothing to hide that he is absolutely livid at what is going on. It starts at 19.42 if you want to watch it

Wow, Sir Charles. If I was a tory front bencher loyal to the admin I'd be heading the other way if I see him, he looks ready to go all Falling Down

Surely nobody can think this is a suitable way to run a government and a country. Even if you want to run the country as some sort of free market libertarian hell-hole how can you think that this is the way to do it?

Would love to see Walker channel that obvious rage and organise some kind of revolt/walk out/whatever.

Sadly I don't think, even if he did that, that the message would get through the thick hides of the people such action would be aimed at...

Thoughts and prayers for the poor Tory MP's about to struggle to pay the £500k mortgage and the weekly Waitrose shop because they don't get voted in again. Thier severance pay might not cover the bubbly.

I understand his frustration - I share it. But his and colleagues motivation is mainly still selfish imo.
