We will be in touch
I was contracting until Aug 2018 but jacked it when IR35 got hot.
I've been a staff employee since.
I recently closed the business account and put the company into dormancy through HMRC.
My accountants tell me that we still have to submit accounts to Companies House each year.
How can I submit accounts if I'm not trading?
Any advice / answers much appreciated.
You do have to but they will be very, very simple, basically confirming that the company has not traded and showing anything it still owns. Should be cheap as chips for your accountant to do, but not too difficult to do yourself if you feel so inclined.
You will also need to do your confirmation statement every year too, again that will very simple.
I have a dormant company that I just go onto companies House and confirm that no trading has taken place. It has never traded so straight to dormant rather than traded and made dormant not sure if that makes a difference.
As mentioned, you just submit very basic information to Companies House - it’s not full accounts - not much more than scrolling through some screens and ticking a few boxes.
I still have a mild panic each year when I receive the reminder for my now dormant company, though.

How long are you planning on being an employee & leaving it dormant?
Might be worth closing the company with companies house if you have no immediate plans to go back to it. It’s easy enough to open a new company in the event that you need to.
