Where has this come from? It's almost as pervasive as "oh my days" but more annoying as it's pseudo-aggressive.

If being 'like a boss' is being anything like my boss it's clearly not a boast.

I think this answers all of your questions but may not be safe for work. Like a boss.

I had thought it comes from the "boss" one has to defeat in order to advance another level in those frightful video games that people play.

It's one of the things my 12 year old says. I imagine it would sound pretty damn stupid coming out of an adult's mouth.
As would "M'name's Jeff" that all the boys were saying at rugby yesterday! (From 21 Jump St, I believe) 😆

Its not. The Slim Thug track was just what it was. But its the parody of the track that made it a turn of phrase. When people say it they're referring to the parody rather than the original track

and no more stupid than the stupid things we used to say as kids: "George huh?" (you did didn't you?) and "chinny reckon" etc etc etc etc

I used "chinny reckon" recently! Just brilliant as people don't expect anyone to say it nowadays. 😀

I still can't cope with "sick". A lot of very ill kids around jumps is what it means to me.
