I'm going on a few multi-day touring by bike adventures, and need the lightest sleeping bag possible. This Vango Planet 100 seems good at only 900g and £35, but still wondered if there is anything better and lighter out there?

How light do you really need to go and what's your budget? You can't have the lightest bag unless you have a pretty big budget 🙂 Also, 200g difference in lightweight bags can mean a jump in price of £100+. Is 200g worth that to you?

Scotroute's suggestions are better than that vango, but you might struggle to find them for £35.

For summer, I've got a Vango Ultralight 350, which is about 750g and £50. It's great value, although a little snug.

Depends also on temperature you plan to camp in and how warm you run.

I got a cheapo deal from mountain whorehouse for a summer bag. I know a lot of people will poo-poo them, but I dont do 'everest' style expeds, so i prefer something cheap enough not to worry about, but good enough to keep me warm.

This one isnt bad now: http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/camping/sleeping-bags/2-3-season-sleeping-bags/microlite-500-sleeping-bag-p11497.aspx?cl=GREEN

More than you wanted to pay but I have one of these that is 20 years old. Still used regularly.

One of the best bits of kit I have ever bought.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Certainly at the moment anything over £100 is probably more than I wanted to spend.

Plumber - I do like to the look of the Snugpak bags, this Jungle bag looks very compact! http://www.snugpak.com/military/jungle-bag How warm are they though? Realistically i'll only be doing this when it's warm outside, so summer!

I guess weight is important, but maybe more so is the ability to pack down quite small...

I'll have two Panniers, but in there i'll have a 2 man 1.8kg tent...
