Hi,

I am planning to replace some light switches but am a bit confused about what to buy. The switches I am replacing are simple one-way switches - i.e. on/off.

The missus wants stainless steel switches with hidden screws so I am looking at the range below from B&Q

http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/electrical/switches-sockets/decorative-switches-sockets/-brand-Colours+Excellent?fl=1

They only list two types of single gang switch - an intermediate model which I know is incorrect and a two way model as shown below.

http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/electrical/switches-sockets/decorative-switches-sockets/-brand-Colours+Excellent/Single-switch-2-way-10AX-12868637

I was expecting to buy one way switches but they are not listed. Is this because the two way model can be used with just two wires? i.e. COM and L1 connected and L2 disconnected?

Yes you can use 2 way as a single switch.

I would suggest you look at Screwfix and Toolstation

Normally a lot cheaper than B&Q for the same or similar stuff. B&Q and Screwfix are owned by the same Co.

As above screw b and q, they'll have your pants down on prices!

Yes, two way is fine. Check the requirement for depth of backbox though. If you've 16mm boxes you may find that flush mount switches require 35mm. You might get them into 25mm but it's a squeeze.
