Has anyone else been watching this series and also found it very thought provoking?
My wife. I've heard lots and may try to catch some myself.
I've been watching a few
The situations are sad, a lot of the attitudes are depressing and somewhat frightening. It made me think a lot and it changed my attitude to a few things.
The guy who ran over the police officer particularly got to me
I think it's very sad that they still adopt the 'eye for an eye' approach to justice. In all the cases the defendant was guilty, but it is the way that the jury have to reach a unanimous verdict that the death sentence should apply rather than life without parole. In one episode you got the impression that they had no choice but to deliver the death sentence, otherwise, they would not have been allowed out of the deliberation room.
That was heart wrenching and I still think about it even a week after watching it. Yes, he killed a police officer, but was it on purpose or did he just swerve to avoid the spikes ... I don't think killing him actually made the dead officer's wife feel any better about the whole torrid affair. The guy who ran over the police officer particularly got to me
